I received this TV from a co-worker in order to fix. He claims that the TV got hit by lightning. The unit has no standby light turned on but the power supply does have standby voltage of 3.3v. I am thinking that the main board has a problem. Any ideas?

Do you have any other voltages? I'm trying to think through this: Is anything different if you disconnect the main board from the PSU?Last edited by capkid; 09-05-2013, 07:48 PM. -
Re: Sony Bravia KDL-32BX300 No Standby Light
There are two yellow fuses on the power supply board by the white connector that goes to the main board, are they OK?
You should download the service manual:

OK, on page 29 of the service manual, report the voltage reading of ALL the pins of CN6401/6402/6403 when TV is plugged in and not turn on ( in standby mode) and when TV is powered on by the power switch. Black probe on the chassis, all the boards are connected together.Never stop learning

Re: Sony Bravia KDL-32BX300 No Standby Light
Okay, here's what I tested.
CN6401
-------
1 STBY3_3V = 3.3V
2 AC OFF DET = 2.0V
3 POWER ON = 3.28V
4 AUDIO_12V = 0V
5 AUDIO_12V_GND = 0V
6 REG12V_GND = 0V
7 REG12V_GND = 0V
8 REG12V = 0V
9 REG12V = 0V
10 BL_ERR = 0.05V
11 BL_ON = 0.04V
12 DIMMER = 0V
13 NC = 0V
14 T-CON_VCC_12V= 0V
15 T-CON_ON = 0V
CN6402
-------
1 UNREG24V = 0V
2 UNREG24V = 0V
3 UNREG24V = 0V
4 UNREG24V = 0V
5 UNREG24V = 0V
6 GND = 0V
7 GND = 0V
8 GND = 0V
9 GND = 0V
10 GND = 0V
11 BL_ERR = 0.05V
12 BL_ON = 0.04V
13 NC(ADIM) = 0V
14 DIMMER = 0V
CN6403
-------
CONNECTOR NOT USED
When I attempt to turn the unit on, the readings are still the same. Even though it does have a standby led and power led, both remain off at all times. The power button does work and is connected to the main board. The led indicators are connected to the main board via a separate connector from the buttons. Thanks guys and hope this helps.Comment

Re: Sony Bravia KDL-32BX300 No Standby Light
OK, you have power supply board problem, it is getting the PS_ON (Power ON) but the 12V, 24V are not coming on. BUT, one voltage should change state, POWER ON = 3.28V, it should be below 1V when TV is powered OFF and 3.28V when Power switch is activated, if it does not change state, that mean the main board is also stuck on, so you may also have main board problem.Last edited by budm; 09-08-2013, 11:40 AM.Never stop learning

I'll check mine tonight. I bought a new power supply and it didn't work, so I'm willing to go on a little faith.Comment

by SkishyIshyHey All,
I have a Sony 65x900f that I purchased cheap because of a no-power issue.
I assumed that because there is no standby light visible, it would be an easy fix - however upon opening up of the unit I can confirm that the 3v3 standby voltage is making it's way from the power supply to the main board. I'm a little confused as to why there is no standby light.
I am firstly wondering if anyone has this model of TV, or has worked on one and can give me some insight. I have tried to find a service manual for this model, to no avail - and would really appreciate... -
by androriparaHello everyone,
i am trying to repair a Sony KDL-55HX820 led TV which is throwing error code 4 (standby led flashing four times).
I followed the troubleshooting flowchart at page 69, and between pin1 and pin7 of CN6002 i am reading 1.91V so i guess i can rule out the B Board as the culprit.
Before ordering new G* Boards (by the way, should i change both? it is not specified in the manual) i wanted to try and do more advanced troubleshooting since i've read in other threads people resolving their problems on the 46/55 HX 820/823/825 models by replacing the Samsung led... -
by noinimodNo standby red light, nothing
This Sony has a separate AC->DC power adapter supplying 19.5V to the TV power board (JK3)
Disconnected JK3 power board from main board, checked voltages on all the pin outs
At a few pins I can see the power supply providing 19.5V to the main board
Based on the service manual triage.. it seems to be pointing towards the power board (JK3) being the most possible culprit

by jasonbay13picked up a tv and when the power is plugged, the standby light flashes real quick then goes off. of 3.3, 12, 24v is all there but i couldnt find any 5v on the back-end board. ON/OFF is low, which it seems is what turns on the backlight so i removed the wire at the back-end board and put a 10k resistor to the 3.3v, which when plugged in brings on the backlight for a split second and also a blue light "LED1" on the inverter board, which goes off after a short time.
am i missing something to bring on the backlight or is the inverter/ccfl gone bad? would that cause the inverter board...12-01-2023, 09:55 PM -
by NicktronicHey Everyone,
So I've got this Samsung and the reported issue is that when powered on the backlight comes on, but no picture, no sound, it will flicker, the standby light will flash red twice and repeat the whole process...each loop lasts about 15 seconds.
I've googled the issue and understand it is likely a panel/driver board issue, but was hoping the "tape method" could be successful. Before I did that though, I disconnected the left LVDS cable and powered the TV on. This time I got sound, no picture and the two blink standby light stopped. Did the same...03-27-2023, 07:01 PM - Loading...
