    samsung UN22D5010 no power

I just bought a 22" samsung from craigslist

The person I bought it from said that 2 of his tv's went out during a storm
So he got his 42 inch fixed said it was a board but didn't know which one since a tech came out and fixed it
He didn't want to spend anymore money fixing the 22inch

So im hoping it is only a power board issue and not a fried panel

So as of now there is no power at all
I plugged it in and there is no led to indicate power

As I suspected there is a blown fuse on the ps
There are no visible blown caps
    Should I replace the caps?

There are some burn marks on one of the resistors and 2 diodes

I did check these with my ohm meter and I am getting readings but im not sure how to test these

So how do I test these before I replace them or should I just replace them?

    Thanks

I'd check the power supply for shorted FETs.

Do I just ohm them out?
What kind of reading should I get?

Yep -- just measure all three combinations 1-2, 2-3 and 3-1 (arbitrary numbering; but be consistent with each device.) A reading below 30 on diode test, or below 100 ohms is indicative of a potentially failed device. Suspect devices should then be removed and tested out of circuit to verify if they are actually failed.

          Re: samsung UN22D5010 no power

tom i brought the board to work with me to show the electronics guy

he says he does not see any fets on this board
but he did say what the problem is

he found a burned chip under the heat sink
          see pics

he said more then likely this is what took the hit and he is almost positive the other parts should be ok

only problem is it is hard to identify the chip

          see pics

we were able to get some numbers off the chip that melted to the heat sink

He did say its possible the chip on the underside of the board could possibly be bad since it is between the burned chip

That is probably your problem. Those devices contain an internal power FET. It looks to me like you'd only need to replace that device as it is an all in one power switcher. The part number is burned to the heatsink -- you'll need that.

tom can you help me identify the chip?

what kind of chip is it?

i provided the numbers we were able to read above

i actually put the burned part back on and i was able to read the rest of the numbers
which is what you said BR0665JZ

                        where can i buy this?

how do i check the snubber network?

                            ebay is your friend, sometimes:-
                            http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ICE3BR0665...item27d4e5001a

Need to confirm with seller 7/8 pin version though I -believe- you can just chop off the extra pin if present as it has no function (only high voltage isolation on version without it.)

                              tom

                              thanks for the help

i actually found this same one using the U.S. ebay website
they have the same one you provided a link to coming from china

but it is not the same IC i need
the ones i found are all 8 pin and is missing the "Z" at the end of the part number

the one i need is a 7 pin also the original IC has something called Extended blanking and auto-restart.
i have found a similar IC with 8 pin but it has Blanking and latch
not sure if this makes a difference but i am still reading the specs on both and trying to determine if it will affect operation.

but you are right the number 6pin on the 8 pin IC can be removed since it is not used.

im wondering what would happen if i buy this and install it on the board?

                              but i will keep looking

                              thanks again

I compared datasheets, on the non "Z" version with 8 pins, the 6th pin (additional pin) has no function (non-connected) and can be cut off safely to convert the chip into a 7 pin version.

It doesn't, but I can't see any issue from having those features. Auto restart will recover from short circuit automatically, and I think extended blanking saves some extra power in standby.

                                          Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                                          Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone and thanks in advance for any help I might get here

My Samsung TV is about 4 years old. The exact model number is UE75MU7009TXZG.
About half a year ago I started seeing occasional green frames pop up while watching movies. I mean literally green frames. Not the image turning green, but the entire screen turning green for a split second. This happened maybe once or twice during a 2 hour movie. So no big deal, but clearly something was not quite right.

Since a few days, the TV won't turn...

Samsung TV won't turn on ... keeps cycling the power relay on & off

                                          Hi All,
First time posting here ... my name is Kevin but my friends call me Journey.
I have a Samsung 75" LCD model UN75RU8000FXZA that I don't remember the original fault other than it wouldn't power up anymore.
After it sat for many month's I decide to look at it again. The motherboard seemed to have power regulation issues. After much fussing I decided to just get a new MB.
It came a few days ago and I installed it now just cycles the power relay on and off ... when on the backlights light up and then dim and then relay kicks off and the whole things starts again....

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                                          by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
