Vizio m550nv screen distortions / anomaly. Help appreciated.

Hey all, new to TV technical issues so I hope someone here can help narrow down the issue. A few nights ago my TV screen started going on the fritz. I have had the TV for about 2 years, has been pretty reliable so far. Its a Vizio , i know it's not the greatest brand in the world but I'm really happy with it so I am willing to invest a little bit of money if I need to. From the brief bit of research I did, I am suspecting a T-con board or ribbon issue. I have not opened the TV up to check the capacitors or anything yet, I will probably do that this weekend when i have more free time. Here is a link to the video that should help show the problem better than I could explain it. I appreciate any advice given, Thanks!

Looks like a panel issue maybe bad tab bonds though I never seen one flicker like that.

I haven't seen one flicker like that either but I'm going to agree with tab bonds as well due to the ghosting / distortion.

Hey guys, got an update. Finally opened up the TV. I just now got down to the display panel and found what looks to be a fried set of transistors at the bottom left most side, the same side of the TV I am getting distortion. Here are a few pics to show the fried strip compared to a good strip. I am assuming at this point the TV is pretty much done at this point as I will most likely need a new display panel but I am hoping someone can give me some good news that won't cost too much. Thanks all.

Someone spilt water on this TV, I doubt the damage will be fixable.
You can try using isopropyl alcohol to clean it.

Well, I'm surprised. Enjoy your TV -- and keep water away from it! So many of these newer TVs killed by water damage due to tab bonds on the bottom of the LCD.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                      by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                      Assuming...

                      Hi.

picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED...

Vizio M65Q7-H1 Red Vertical Strips fixed by tape blocking LC1 signal to half of the panel

                      Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

                      Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

Vizio SmartCast TV software bug that looks like hardware
                      by howardc64
Bug looks like hardware so thought I posted it here. Exact same behavior on 2 different model 4K Vizio TVs running their SmartCast smarttv software. After launching youtube app, press vizio button on remote to return to the smarttv menu, once in awhile, a column of bad pixels will show for few seconds on the left hand side.

It seems the vizio software is reinitializing hardware when returning to the smarttv menu. In general, SmartCast software isn't very good. Also will randomly (relatively infrequent) get no network connection when on wifi and require reboot....
