Hello, I have a Hitachi 42 inch plasmas, model number: HD42S69. I have a 3 inch thick vertical red line, left of center (if your facing the tv) that sporadically appears, but often. I took it to a repair shop. The guy told me that its not the control board and it isn't the display panel, it's a buffer board. He wanted $200 and he said the part is like $60. I figured I can just do it myself, but I don't know where the buffer board he was talking about is? Can you help me locate it? How do I even know what board is causing the issue?

Re: Vertical Red Line appears on Hitachi Plasma HD42S69
A-BUS = X-buffer (Address buffer)
The problem is simply the connector. Just unplug it and plug it back in. You -may- want to use a little contact cleaner.
Do not make any change with power on!! The power must be off, or you could damage the plasma panel! Damage to the plasma panel is not repairable. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

You can buy a small spray can at local electronics shops. After applying the contact cleaner, wait around 10 minutes for it to dry out before turning the set back on.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Just the suspect connector. Spray it on with the connector unplugged. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

They probably will. Other places like Fry's will stock them, you can also order it online if you are prepared to wait a few days (will cost a lot less too.)Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Vertical Red Line appears on Hitachi Plasma HD42S69
I'm looking at the back of the TV. There are two of these boards. Is my line because of the one on the right (facing back) or the left one?Comment

Whichever side/connector the line is on. It looks like each connector drives two halves, each half being one sixteenth of the panel. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

by TrueSword88Hi all.
I have a Kogan 65' LCD Panel with a thin blue vertical line (top to bottom) on left hand side of panel.
The line just happens to coincide with the end of COF and start of the next COF (attached).
The line is permanent no matter what I've tried. I've tried pressure testing the panel (top to bottom) and all over, I didn't notice any difference with the line, either temporary or semi-permanent.
Also tried unplugging all flex cables, cleaned with isopropyl then re-inserting to no avail - line remains.
Hoping to fix... -
by almarhumHas one here really gone through fixing laptop screen vertical line(s) by repairing/replacing its Embedded DisplayPort (EDP) cable, so would recount and share the complete steps of the process here now?
As most, if not all, believe the laptop screen vertical line(s) caused by defective Embedded DisplayPort (EDP) cable which slipped and passed through either laptop screen hinge but post here is asking help to elaborate definitively the useful, real knowledge of repairing in the most complete, correct way, esp. can decide/determine whether the cable can still be fixed or must be re...-

by canadaboy25Hey guys, I'm being offered an LG 50PG10 plasma with a vertical line running down the screen.
Apparently, if you give the TV a good smack on the frame above the line, it will go away for a while.
Does this sound like a bad solder joint or loose ribbon cable? Or a bad panel? If it's not likely to be a bad panel I will likely pick it up.
What do you guys think?
Thanks...11-24-2020, 11:50 AM -
by KYBOSHPicked up a bahemoth plasma TV not too long ago and just now getting around to looking at it.
No picture but you hear the TV static (white noise) playing loud and clear.
The back was already taken off (and no screws were provided) as the previous owner had already taken a look.
But it seems they didn't get too far and just left it.
When I first took a look I was amazed at how pristine the inside looked.
Its as if the TV had been in a time capsule.
Caps looked like they were just pulled off the self.

Got UE58TU7100K with no picture - backlight comes on though. Figured out that's a perfect candidate for cut tape method.
This model has just one LVDS tape coming off main board - and two panel boards underneath the LCD screen are connected to each other via small tape. Like curved screens. I've tried to disconnect half of the screen (5he side without LVDS connector on it, obviously), no joy.
Disconnected the tape (main board side). Applied a small piece of tape, covering first ~4-5 pins. Powered the TV on - got picture. In negative, but that's... - Loading...
