Samsung UE58TU7100K - no picture, vertical line

    Hi.

Got UE58TU7100K with no picture - backlight comes on though. Figured out that's a perfect candidate for cut tape method.

This model has just one LVDS tape coming off main board - and two panel boards underneath the LCD screen are connected to each other via small tape. Like curved screens. I've tried to disconnect half of the screen (5he side without LVDS connector on it, obviously), no joy.

Disconnected the tape (main board side). Applied a small piece of tape, covering first ~4-5 pins. Powered the TV on - got picture. In negative, but that's still good for 1st try with tape.

I've noticed a vertical line near one edge of the screen. After playing around with tape a bit, I couldn't get anything better than that 1st try. Noticed that the line is always there. Playing around with COF next to it doesn't produce any change at all. I even tried disconnecting the LVDS tape entirely - powered TV on, backlight kicked in - and the line is still there, even when the screen isn't connected to anything at all.

I am 100% sure that there was no line before taping. How is it even possible? I've been playing with tape countless times now and never experienced something like this.

Many thanks for your time in advance, life savers!

try this, right where the line is give the bezel a squeeze, see if it effects the line any, do not squeeze the screen just the bezel.

try cleaning your ribbon cable ends with ipa alcohol, some use a pencil eraser be careful they can be delicate, you can also inspect them to make sure they aren't chewed up or have any damaged pins in the process.

The panel was damaged. Wasn't visible from outside. Thanks for your help, topic may be closed.

          Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

          Kogan - KALED65XU9220STB - Blue Vertical Line
          by TrueSword88
          Hi all.

I have a Kogan 65' LCD Panel with a thin blue vertical line (top to bottom) on left hand side of panel.
The line just happens to coincide with the end of COF and start of the next COF (attached).

The line is permanent no matter what I've tried. I've tried pressure testing the panel (top to bottom) and all over, I didn't notice any difference with the line, either temporary or semi-permanent.

Also tried unplugging all flex cables, cleaned with isopropyl then re-inserting to no avail - line remains.

To fix laptop screen vertical line by working on its EDP cable
          by almarhum
Has one here really gone through fixing laptop screen vertical line(s) by repairing/replacing its Embedded DisplayPort (EDP) cable, so would recount and share the complete steps of the process here now?

As most, if not all, believe the laptop screen vertical line(s) caused by defective Embedded DisplayPort (EDP) cable which slipped and passed through either laptop screen hinge but post here is asking help to elaborate definitively the useful, real knowledge of repairing in the most complete, correct way, esp. can decide/determine whether the cable can still be fixed or must be re...

Insignia NS-50DR620NA18 w/ large vertical lines & no picture
          by srs
I'm not sure what to do next and came here since y'all helped me fix a 50" plasma TV back in 2014, which is still working!

A friend gave me an Insignia NS-50DR620NA18 50" TV that suddenly developed large vertical lines on it. He said he had no idea what might have caused it and has replaced it with a larger TV. He was going to throw it away.

I did not notice any bulged or leaking caps on any board, the voltages produced by the power supply match the voltage that the pins are marked. The backlight leds are working. I have tried cleaning the ribbon cables...
