    Samsung LCD LN46C670M1FXZA

    Hello all,

I have a Samsung TV that when plugged in shows the standby light but will not power on. After searching through the forum I found the following thread with a very similar model and situation.

    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=28593

Checking the model numbers on the power board and mainboard I followed the instructions given.

So far I have performed the following steps.

    1. Visually inspected the capacitors, I have no visible bulges, leaks, or burns
    2. Replaced the fuses
    3. Disconnected the power cable from the power supply board to and powered on the TV which resulted in the backlight coming on
    4. Disconnected the cable from the main board to the T-Con board and powered on the TV which resulted in just the standby light again.
    5. I have red in multiple places that cutting the JP852, but I don't think this going to solve my problems.

My question is as follows with the following symptoms does it pretty much rule out the capacitor issue and my solution is purchasing a main board.

Thank you in advance for the help.

    Regards,

    Jake

Cutting JP 852 fixes an issue where the backlight flashes on and off. as far as I know it is only the BN44-00201 series opwer supplies.

Thanks Truep. That is what I had read for the most part as well and when the TV was working it was not an issue so I will leave it for now.

Yes, main board. The backlights coming on when the main is disconnected is the confirmation.

Johnboy, thanks for the help. I have located a mainboard for it and will install it when it arrives and let everyone know how I make out.

Update: The motherboard finally came in after the UPS guy refused to leave it at my door twice. I got a chance after work to install it and we are back up and running good as new. Thanks everyone for the help in this thread and the original that set me on the right track!
I think I might have just found a new hobby as well!

I have the same set and get no picture or sound, the power light doesn't even light. I replaced the blown 6.3 fuse on the power board with exact match, plugged it back in and the fuse blew again. I don't see any capacitors that look bad but some are sitting crooked, what else should i look for?

@KEVIN, that means it has shorted out components in the power supply board, you can try fixing it by troubleshooting it down to component level or replace the board, and hopefully the main board is OK.

where should i start looking? Nothing on the board looks like it has been cooked and i have tested the rectifier ( tested ok). Also, I unplugged all the connections from the board, installed another new fuse, plugged the power cord back in and it immediately blew the new fuse, so i tested the voltage on the live side of the dead fuse, i dont remember the reading but it was not higher than the 6.3A fuse.

@kevin, is your board also BN44-00201?
