I hope this is the right forum to post in despite not technically being a repair, but still a question of swapping boards.
I thought I'd explore the possibility to upgrade an existing working Samsung ue55nu7096u with the logic board (and power board if needed) of a newer model (ue55ru7105k) of the same size and appearance (and resolution). The reason being I'd like the extra inputs of that board including component in, an extra HDMI port and bluetooth. Its panel is broken so I have no use for the board otherwise.
The models launched in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
I guess the main question is: how likely is it that the two models have the same or compatible LCD panels? I imagine Samsung might not change their panels that much within a year.
Facets of that question could be, but are not limited to:
- Has anyone here done something similar?
- Do manufacturers change the signalling between the logic board and panel regularly enough to cause concern?
- Do they treat the flat cables as just a bunch of wires, with no pinout consistency between models (seems unlikely)?
- Would something likely fry if I try it naively? (Regarding LCD and logic board communication specifically — backlight is best handled separately*)
- What would be a possible way to increase the confidence of success/failure? (E.g. inspecting certain ICs?)
If you have some experience with Samsung TVs I'd be grateful for insights and input. Good or bad idea?

I think the RU panel is bn96-39045d (written on it at least), and the NU panel is one of the two expensive items (not sure which) on https://www.samparts.eu/en/samsung/t...ch/ue55nu7096u

* Regarding the power board there would be two concerns (pin out and voltages for backlight and logic board), but I think that's best left until there's an established possibility that the logic board could drive the LCD. Nevertheless the photos of the power supplies are attached as well.
