    Image ghosting/memory on one side - Vizio VW46L FHDTV10A

Odd issue with this TV - the center is great. The right side is a bit washed out/bright. The left side is dark, and has a certain memory in the picture. In the attached images, I left the Netflix app on my Roku back to the main screen. On the left side you can see that it's still displaying a ghost image of the Netflix app. It lessens over time, but I haven't left the set on long enough to see if it goes away completely.

An overview of the components shows no smoking gun. I've reseated all cables (inverters, power supply, main board, audio board and tcon). Any ideas what would generally cause this sort of issue?

Sounds like bad tab bonds on the display. Do a search on here for tab bond repair for more info. I just repaired a 37" vizio with almost the same description as yours. There is no real 'fix' for it. More of a workaround and hope that it lasts scenario.

I've seen those "fixes," I'll give it a shot. Thanks!

Here's the one I got working just a couple weeks ago.

Nothing to lose right? Tearing it down completely while still leaving the TV functional is the hardest part. You need to have it powered up with the tabs exposed so you can gently apply pressure to each one and find the problem area. I would assume its going to be the far left tab on yours which is the same with mine. Was basically directly above the problem area.

Just do not run it too long (2 minutes or less) with the frame not in place since the frame is used for cooling the ICs on the flexible board betweeen the LCD Glass panel and the long boards that the cables from the T-CON are attached to.

I'll note this for any future ones I work on budm. Hadn't thought of that. I let mine run there for a couple hours before I put it back together. I was actually thinking how neat it looked sitting there in pieces with the control board and power supply resting on pieces of wood and the whole thing functional.

You can run it intermittently, to test it.
These ICs run so hot, I have found one burning itself (it fried itself.) Older LCDs didn't have this problem, probably down to cost saving.

As always, I appreciate everyone's help. Looking at the other thread, definitely what I'm experiencing. I'll backburner this for now, I have other projects (fun arcade stuff) to knock out before I get back to this.

Time and care were the main things in doing it. In the end, I got a 37" 1080p TV for our bedroom for $20 and zero repair cost. It may not be the best looking picture for one that size that I've seen, but its hard to argue with that price.

Please give us an update when you get a chance to dig in to it.
