The panel is not bad on this unless it has gone bad between changing boards.

Most TV parts companies do not test boards. The one major exception appears to be shopjimmy. They mostly get the boards from scrap TVs. Maybe when the lines appeared on the previous owner's TV they got angry with it and hit it, hence how the parts have filtered down.

If I put back the original board, it shows exactly the same as in the beginning. So board swapping could have not caused any damage.

And if you look "beyond" the white lines, you can't see the noise pattern that the new board exhibits?

I mean on the old board, you cannot see the noise pattern that the new board used to exhibit. Only the white lines are the problem, right?

Fine, then the T-con was most likely at fault.

The second one looked like the screen it was devided in eight equal vertical bands.

Ordered another T-con board from rentechtv. Let's see what will change this time.

I have the same model (KDL-46W4100), same picture issues. I thought it was main board problem. I have a working Sony KDL-46V4100, these two TVs use the same main board (same part #), but their t-Con boards are different, KDL-W4100 has a bigger t-con with seperate power cable, but 46V4100 only the normal t-con connection to the main board.
I exchaned the W4100 main board with the working v4100 main board, exactly the same symptom : No picture but has backlight and sound, when I press menu on the screen, the bright light looks change.
Looks like these two models use different technologies, there must be some initial settings which we don't know. Any one has any idea ?
Anyway, waiting for thread's owner the new t-con result..

I expect the T-con board to arrive today. I also expect the mainboard for the 40V4100.

OK, the T-con board fixed it.

But they claim, that is fully tested by a technician. I have asked them, how they test it and he didn't explain me how.

Because that's a lie. They aren't tested.

In this situation, I would leave a negative, but with a comment saying the situation was resolved. The situation was resolved and you were refunded, but he wasted your time with an untested board he claimed was tested, and you're out the return shipping cost.

Maybe it will encourage sellers to either mark boards as untested or spend time testing them.

I'd guess most people don't realise the board they receive may be duff, with quite a high chance of being so. Often, you hear stories of people replacing nearly every board in their TV and it still doesn't work -- but they didn't realise one or more boards they got were actually faulty. So, not only does it cost experienced guys money, it costs inexperienced individuals their TV plus parts cost, as they will inevitably dump it after they can't fix it. Or maybe they smash the screen & some guys pick it up, strip the boards out and the cycle continues.

Have a 46w4150, same service manual as the 4100. When I turn it on there is a red vertical line which fades as the TV warms up, never disappears. Replaced the TCON and the line was the same, doesn't seem to be the panel. Any suggestions?

Picture or video of the fault would help, but it sounds like panel to me...

Here are 5 Pictures normal Picture, white, red blue green screen. The line is present in all. Its 1 line almost to the edge. Is it the panel? Can you see it well enough in the pictures
