I contacted Samsung and they sent an engineer to me for free, and he replaced the 2 large Capacitors 1000uF 25v with 1000uF 35v and the tv still doesnt work, he said it needs a new board... I THINK OTHERWISE!!

There is one he didnt replace (maybe he would after he 'charged me for a new board')

Anyway upon further inspecton one cap has gone black / brown and split, eventually breaking off when i tried to move it to see the numbers on it.
I cannot tell what numbers were on it but i'd hazard a guess it'd be the same as the one next to it which is 27J 6KV

Any help would be appreciated as im pretty sure this will cure my tv, now i have only basic knowledge in resistance etc.. but i can use a soldering iron and goto maplins and buy a part lol

    Hi,

You are right, it is identical with the one from the right side. The specs are 27pF/6KV (27 pico farads at 6000V).
You should replace them both, as a pair.

The engineer that Samsung sent is also incompetent (or Samsung is) because he has used NHG Panasonic, which are NOT suitable for switching power supply.

Re: Can you help identify this cap?

lmao, thanks for the info guys.

Firstly i got inpatient lol.. i went down to Maplins and they have somthing that they said is reletivly the same their part number is WX49 so i brought it (just the one) and bingo its working like a charm!!!

Yes this guy was a proper cowboy... he even has his tools all over the TV backplate... i was cringing. It took him a good 5 mins in the back of his van to find the 2 caps to stick in and yet again my suspicions were right... he would have took this tv away, replaces the bad ceramic cap and sold it to me for £60 saying a new board was installed.

That cap i put in cost me 42pennies lol. albeit said it does'nt look the same but its doing a god job

Wish i had his number to call and tell him what a c@#t he is. The thing that bugs me mostly is how many others actually paid for this con that's going around. When he could have done it there and then.

Sooo, before i knock this tv out at a cheap price do you guys recommend i replace these capacitors as a whole or not and just leave it as its working?

I expect that capacitor to fail very quickly because it is definitely not going to survive the 3000V or so the TV uses to start the backlights.

Yeah, certainly no more than 1kV. It will probably last a few seconds, I doubt it will last longer than a minute before it fails completely.

you'd hate to know that it lasted a few hours constantly on using the hdmi input. and it got turned on and off about 30 times lol

The board says 97v on it... so doesnt that mean their is no more than that much running through the board?

"94V" is just a PCB flammability code.

The bulb connectors have around 900V~1.5kV in operation and up to 3kV during striking, where the bulbs are made to light.

ohhhh! im glad you guys know ur stuff. I thought the cap was for the backlight as from a very tight angle (before the fix) i could see the screens fuzzy background.

Hopefully these caps will arrive sat and i can complete the repair.. for now its staying off till they are changed. Dont want to do more damage to it.

BTW i got the TV for free a week ago from a friend at work, he said if u can fix it, sell it and keep the cash lol

What u wreckon its gonna be worth? i dont need it i have a 50" downstairs and 37 in the bedroom

Just hope that when that cap failed it will not take out the secondary winding of the high voltage transformer.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Hy guys , i have a DVR board DS-80104 REV 2.2 that was powered wrong, i have some smds on the board that are blown and i can't identify them , maybe if someone has this board somehow and we can identify the smds', i have searched online and i can't find a schematic.
The smds are SOT-23-6 , one of them i think it has the marking ADJF since i found another one on the board with this marking , but the other one it seems that it starts with AG or it looks like. I would really apreciate if someone could help me identify those IC's .

                                          Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
