Dynex DX-LCD32-09 No Picture

I picked a freebie on this one. Tested Power Board and all appropriate voltages are present. There is no picture, the person I got it off of said it had sound but I am not really sure of that as I can not hook up a source to it. Any thoughts? Tcon? The power light on the front is Red and when I push the power button it turns green.

I went ahead and tested the test point on the tcon and here is what I get

VDDA 8.20k 3.350v
VDDD 7.03K 15.20v
VGL 20.1k -6.2v
VGH OL 20.94

Holding a flashlight against the panel in a dark room, is there an image? If so, then you need to look at the backlight inverter. If there isn't, then you should check the other boards.

I don't believe so, I can see no lights. I turned the set on green indicator light hit menu button since I do not have a source and can not see anything in a dark room with a flashlight.

So we need to get the backlights to come on. Cannot do much until we see the pictures of the boards and all the voltage labellings on the connectors.

So the inverter board is getting the PON (BL_ON) of 4.827, and alos getting the needed 24v (23.93V) if I read the post correctly?
If that is the case, I will need good clear pictures of the inverter board.

Yes I believe the inverter is getting the proper voltages. I will post a pic of the inverter soon.

There are more than one version of this TV model, as you can see, there are more thna one type of inverter board.

Check the black F1 fuse with '20' on it, more likely to be blown.

I see a f201 ans a f301 but I'm not seing a F1 with a 20 on it although I may be blind and am just overlooking it.

Ok I did find it it is testing 15K ohms across the fuse. If i'm correct it should read 0 ohms?

F1 is bad. A good fuse should measure less than 1.0 ohms.

Are they hard to solder in? I have done caps and diodes but this seems a little smaller. Can it be bypassed temporarily to prove that it is the only fault? Thanks!

Personally, I would not jumper a fuse for any reason. It is there for a reason. A component around it could be shorted or bad causing the fuse to blow. Sometimes a fuse does go bad on its own.

Ok, I will give it a try. One last question. Is the 20 a reference to 20 amps or 20 ma? Digikey?

I made a temp 1a fuse assembly and it appears the back lighting comes on. I have read you can solder the new fuse on top of the old one, is that recommended?
