I have a non working Vizio VX42L HDTV10A.
It was bought 11/2007.
I live in the rural and there has been a lot of dirt bikes and ATVs running about. Here in Arkansas I has been very dry the last couple of summer seasons, and there fore lots of dust. I was concerned of the TV and other electronics ingesting some of this dust.
So the other day I went to turn on the Blu-Ray player and the Vizio TV. I heard a pop, and low and behold, the TV Vizio logo turned from amber to white, yet no sound or no picture. It would not turn off via remote or power button on the side. I unplugged it and went thru the same scenario.
So I have pulled the set from the wall and removed the back and was thinking I could clean it with a vacuum and maybe that would solve the problem. Yes, there was a lot of dust accumulation.
I have since cleaned it with a vacuum and looks very neat now.
I find NO bloated, ruptured, or leaking caps.
I find NO burnt or discolored components.
U33 looks good.
So I was inspecting all the boards and come to somekind of diagnosis, yet I am lost. Everything looks good; all printed circuits look excellent, all caps look good..
I am referring to from reading you guys posts on my exact model and most refer to bad caps. Or bad u33, u7, etc.
Also.. when replacing the inverter board I some how destroyed the KeyPad/IR board to the J2 connection cable.. yep the little black wire came from the module and is irrepairable.
Is there some where I can ground the little black wire elsewhere on the main board just to get it to come on now? No Vizio logo light at all now. I supoose perhaps cause the black wire is faulty on the KeyPad/IR board.
I have found another used cable bundle from a VX42L on eBay. That should come this week.
What Should I be looking for since all my caps look good?
What are the readings with an Ohm meter on the u33? u7? u9?, etc?
Shall I obtain another working main board?
What are the readings at the inverter board from the main board when everything is good to come out of STBY?
