DEG LCD TV(no model number) WITH BACKLIGHT WORKING BUT NO PICTURE, NO SOUND

Hello all, Please, i need help. There is a Deg 32" lcd tv that i am presently repairing, it has no model no. If i power it on, the backlight comes on and i can switch it on/off with the remote control. Other buttons like MENU, VOLUME, PROGRAM etc display on the screen but no picture or sound. The screen is blank with a light grey color. I have read the voltages from the power board and there are accurate. Please, can somebody suggest what else to try. i will be very grateful. Thanks in advance.

So, if you press the MENU button, the TV's system menu appears?
This would be a main board problem -- the main board is the one with the video inputs on it.

Looks to be some Vestel variant -- the main board is that largest green one in the middle of the TV.
Please confirm that when the menu key is pressed on the TV you can see the full menu on the screen.

Thanks a lot Tom66, i really appreciate you concern. Yes! The MENU does display and you can select any input like AV/TV, tuner, scart 1, scart 2 etc. But if a dvd player or cable is connected, it does not show any picture or sound.

OK, do you have the original or a compatible remote?

Could it be stuck on hotel mode?

Hotel mode is probably not relevant for this model, though the next steps will tell us anyway.

OK, so turn the TV on to an analogue channel (where you would normally see snow if the TV was working properly.) Then press MENU on the remote, followed by 4, 7, 2, 5 in quick succession. If all goes well, a secret option menu should appear. Can you show us a picture of this?

Please, i am sorry for the delay, it was due to power outage. I had to borrow a generator as mine is faulty. I have done as you instructed and i have attached the picture. Thanks for your help.

OK, what is under the other menus (use left-right I think to select the menus -- the icons at the top.) A picture of each would be helpful. Sorry to hear about the black out. Are they very common? I have a friend in South Africa who gets them every day :/.

Here there are Tom66. Thanks a lot. As for black outs, it's natural in Nigeria, we experience it very often. sometimes, ten times a day.

If you use the down arrow on this menu:
                            https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...6&d=1364055075

                            are any other options available?

I'm looking for a "factory reset" option, if one is available.

If not, we will have to look at the EEPROM on the board.

Worst case, look up prices for 17MB11-6 main boards. You may have to order them from Europe. There's plentiful supply here, so the price is generally quite low, but I don't know if they will ship to Nigeria....

I have scrolled down with the down arrow but there are no other options. Do we now look at the EEPROM on the board?

When you have finished Toms Tests
Did you check that the sound was not just muted? -With a known sound source connected
press the mute button on the remote control.
Also check the cable that goes from the main board to the panel is secure - take it out
check for bent pins and replace.

I wouldn't think the second test is necessary, after all the user is getting an OSD (menus etc.)

Regarding the EEPROM, I think it is this device, can you confirm the marking printed on it?

Also I am thinking that "initial aps" may be worth considering.

Thanks Selldoor, I have checked the mute but it is not muted. I have also checked the cables and all is in good condition but still no picture or sound.
