Re: Sharp LC32D44E-BK Stuck in standby mode

Absolutely brilliant information here, followed the instructions to the letter, and got the TV to power on. It does have a dead bulb, but I'm not that bothered by it. If I leave C7558 bridged, what's the worst that could happen? I'm guessing it responds to the bulbs powering up, and if there's a fault, it signals to the PSU to shut down, but is there any real danger to leaving it bridged?

The bulb/transformer could burn. However, you can always isolate that bulb connection.

Did you jumper C7558? This fault can indicate there is a shorting bulb in the panel - must be fixed before continuing.

Can the same jumper on c7558 be done on a sharp LC37GD8E? I had a look at the board earlier and can't seem to locate it. Tried searching everywhere for some more information but can't find anything.

                Any help would be appreciated.

Will have my hands on a next LC32D44E-BK in a few minutes. That other sharp lc32d44e-bk still up and running.

Will use it as a guide an to get readings from?

Got my last CCFL from here :>http://www.chsinteractive.co.uk/sear...query=lc32d44e

Is RON77 still around that spare set may just come in handy just about now.

It does not turn on, 1 sec of green led then back to red again. Think I seen somewhere on 1 the post about 1 sec of green is inverter?

Cant remember if I heard a click or not was just giving it a quick look over.

I did remove the PSU, area around a few FET's look brown, those by the heatsinks.

Will update with few photos tomorrow, and any findings, most def will have a hundred questions to ask also.

                      Hi guys,
i managed to "repair" a LC32D44E-BK which had the lamp error. After I bridged c7558 i managed to enter the service mode and i could reset the Lamp Errors. I've also tested the screen like Tom66 did in his video. Everything was fine. The TV works again now. So thank you to everyone who contributed in this thread.
Nevertheless I want to ask if I can leave the bridge? I know this question has been asked before... All i want to know is, if this is possibly life threatening?
I don't care if the TV dies... no problem!
But I don't want a fire to break out or other catastrophes.
So what's your judgement on that?
Thanks in advance + happy new year to everyone!

My concern over these is where bulbs are visibly bad or transformers bad. If all bulbs light up it should be ok to then remove the bridge and test the TV. These TVs may in rare instances fail to light the backlight up first time - this will be recorded as an error. After 5 non consecutive errors they will not power up at all which is probably why yours appears to work ok but has errors.

                          Hi Tom66,
                          Thanks for answering.
Well i tried to remove the bridge... but i am completely helpless when it comes to soldering... It looks messy.. I think i removed the bridge, but i can't tell for sure.
The TV boots up, works "normally".
Ehm, what am i supposed to do know?
                          Greetings & Thanks

                            It doesn't work anymore...
Obviously it only works with the bridge... i couldnt identify a bad bulb... everything looked perfect..
                            Now, what does that mean?

You can install the bridge but it is at your own risk entirely... maybe there is a worn out bulb or transformer.

This is the second set, not to confuse things, the first set is working fine.

Try to read from the service manual got as far as Is a DC voltage of approx. 400V applied to both ends of C7129?

So far the readings on CN7201

                                1. 13.32/45 On pressing the power on button
                                2. 13.32/45 On pressing the power on button

                                7. GND 0v
                                8. GND 0v
                                9. Ac-Det 3.30v

Confused on this bit black probe on chassis C7129 = Standby the - leg 56.61v the + leg 35.52v

Still with black probe on chassis, this time power up Tv - leg 56.61v the + leg 141.41v

This time probes on C7129 in standby 66.71v & declining.
Probes on C7129 pressing the power on button 396.0v and steady.

Is a DC voltage of approx. 400V applied to both ends of
C7129? If no then check Does the PFC circuit normally work?

I have this tv and I have a huge problem.
So, now the tv is stuck in DTV mode.
I can enter in menu, but in DTV menu, not in tv menu.
More than this, when I press menu from remote or from tv button, the power led blinking for more seconds and after that, it enter in menu.
I observe the same blinking when I press MUTE button and other buttons.
I tried to enter in service menu to make a factory reset, but with no success.
I follow the procedure, but nothing.
Vol- and input press both of them, plug the tv in socket, the power led first turn red for a second, then solid green and the display is black, no lights from lamps.
I bridged the 7558 capacitor, but is the same behavior.
All the voltage is correct, no blown capacitors.

I read about making a firmware upgrade, but this tv doesn't have an usb.
Can you help me with some advice?
                                    Thanks in advance.

Re: Sharp LC32D44E-BK Stuck in standby mode

I got Sharp LC32D44E-BK for repair.

Thank you tom66 for the video you posted with instructions on how to get into the service mode. It really helped to troubleshoot this TV.

Initially I measured the resistance of secondary windings of the inverter transformers. Two of them had ~2.660k ohms resistance and three of them had ~2.560k ohms resistance. So the difference is ~100ohms.

This is why I started to suspect the inverter transformers to be faulty. However, thanks to all the comments about faulty lamps in this TV set I decided to check the lamps even though all of the lamps seemed to be glowing fine while I was in the service menu.

I noticed that two lamps have black ends. I put back the boards on the TV without assembling the screen to check the lamps while they were working. Then I noticed that these two suspect lamps have red and green glow at the darkened ends. Other lamps have no such glow at the ends.

I attach the photos of the darkened lamp ends both while off and on. I am going to order two replacement lamps from here: http://backlightweb.co.uk/index.php?...oducts_id=9457

While looking for information about this set I stumbled upon another thread about an LC32 series TV. One person who had left the jumper disabling backlight error detection noticed his TV burning one year after the hack. Here's his post: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...7&postcount=42

So I guess it's a good idea to inspect CCFL lamps even when all of the lamps seem to be working while in service menu.
