That means the main board is not sending PWM (AC) out, the same failure mode as the Philips TV.

    From the service menu.

    DISPLAY -> 5 -> Vol+ -> Power.

How do I check the hours?

Maybe the CCFL was sensitive to the dimming somehow, TV will no longer have dynamic backlight, but I always found that annoying anyway. Check hrs on backlight counter.

Hmm, cutting it worked. TV turns on perfectly, no dimming when it gets to the HDMI screen, its just full bright.

I would try disconnect that Dim control wire and see what happen.

I don't think it can? Switching the probes around I'm getting 0VAC and same DC readings.

Can your meter read frequency? The PWM for dimming is around 150~200Hz with variable pulse width, the amplitude is 0~5V typical, and since it is not sine wave the AC value reading will not make sense especially if it is not True R.M.S meter.

What meter was used for that measurement? Try measuring AC with probes reversed - sounds odd, but some meters only look at the positive cycle of any AC.

Took us awhile to find out that the PWM has 0V reading (stuck low), when we disconnect the PWM pin, the backlights will stay fully on. So I am not sure if this inverter is using variable DC to control the dimming or PWM for controlling the dimmimg.
Ohh i see it, once I hit the power button itll go up to 3.24V DC then 2.32V DC when the backlights go on, and 4.5V AC

On the pad, VREF reads 5.56V, OLP measures -0.01 when lights go off and -0.09 when its on

pin 14? you mean this one? When I'm measuring it with respect to ground I'm getting a loud buzzing sound. It read around 2.5, 2.7V from what i saw I think. And getting 5.5V when set at AC

Just put the meter in AC volt position. I am trying to find out if this dimming control signal is Analog dimming control type (0~5v) OO if it is PWM AC signal (around 150~200Hz) type.

What voltage do you have at the EXTERNAL DIM pin14 on the inverter board, measure it with DC and AC mode on the meter.

    Heres something interesting I found...
When I'm measure this pin, (PIN #19 i think) ill be 0.01V when the backlights go on.

And as it dims when it gets to the HDMI input. It'll raise up to 1.96V steady THEN the TV actually stays on and works!! But as soon as I remove my probe from the pin the TV turns off and starts cycling through the problem again?

I had a similar problem like this with that 32" dynex, where I just resoldered the ground pins and it fixed the problem (But only lasted 20 minutes til it fully died with a main board problem and I gave up on it)

Noted there is VREF pad, so check that too.

Sony TV model KD-65XE7005 - only Sony logo for 3 seconds
    by mauda
I'm currently working on repairing a malfunctioning Sony TV model KD-65XE7005 with the mainboard 1-981-926-21. I would appreciate your assistance with this issue.

Upon powering on the TV, the Sony logo appears for approximately 3 seconds, after which the backlight remains lit, the screen remains black, and nothing else happens. The TV consumes around 55W initially and then drops to 35W. The indicator LED remains solid white. It doesn't respond to the remote control. When attempting to update the TV using a USB dongle, the dongle briefly flashes but nothing else happens.

Sony LED 65X9005A shuts down after few seconds - looking for help
    by tec3000
Hi community! Germany calling I am wondering if you guys can help me out. I have an issue with my Sony LED TV. I've been told this is a good place to ask. Thanks for anyone who will reply and offer advice. Appreciated!

I have a KD-65X9005A Sony 4k LED TV. For a few weeks I've got this problem where I turn on the TV and within a few seconds the TV starts getting darker until it shuts itself off and I get the 4 blinking error code. HOWEVER there is one exception: Whenever I switch to the i-Manual, a full screen on-screen instruction manual, the TV never turns off. I tested for hours!...

Sony KD-65A1 Repair – 4 Red Blinks Error
    by AK_777
    Hi everyone!
I have a Sony KD-65A1 TV with a fault – 4 red LED blinks. After disassembly and visual inspection, I found that the G76 power board and DKA board had been replaced. It is also possible that TCON was replaced, but I am not sure – there are a few marker marks that could be factory-made.

Based on assumptions, the previous service attempted to solve the issue by replacing potentially faulty components. I decided to investigate further, found a service manual, and figured out a way to power up the power supply unit autonomously and put the OLED panel and...

    Sony A1e 5-blinks help
    by jchon
Hi I'm new to trying to repair TVs, but I saw a broken OLED offered for a reasonable price and thought I'd try my hand at it.

I found the service manual, which was critical to know where to probe.
    https://www.manualslib.com/manual/20...1e-Series.html

With it I was able to determine that my DKA board was bad, when P_ON#1/2 gets enabled REG_12 on the DKA board collapses. I'm assuming one of the downstream regulators has a short, but I couldn't work out which rail/component and replaced the DKA board entirely.

    Unfortunately the 5-blinks...

    Sony XBR-65X850D 2 Red Blinks
    by Nicktronic
    Hi all,

I have the subject TV and it will work normally sometimes but suddenly go black and give the 2 red blinks blink code. When this happens, I check the power supply board voltages and all I have is the Standby 3.3V and BL_ERR 2.2V. When it's working normally, all power supply board voltages look normal and stable. I've checked the backlights with a tester and they all test good. I've also read that the 2 red blinks is a faulty power supply board, so could it be throwing up an erroneous BL_ERR?

Any Sony experts out there that can help??...
