Perhaps it's easier on the t-con side?

It pushes straight back. I used a small pointed screwdriver on both ends. There are no hold down clamps.

Aha! Thanks MyHD120 and Tom! I got it off just like you instructed. Now I can try to figure out the short on this board... I am determined to revive this beast that I payed $1,300 for back in the day!!!

Hey guys, I got the main board out and have been checking over it looking for any clue to the blown fuse and apparent short to ground.

There is one good sized diode on it and it was reading both ways so I removed one leg. Now it only reads the one direction BUT it seems too low:

          0.174

          That's too low right?

            The datasheet states:

Forward Voltage 0.67 V (so I should be seeing 0.67 in diode mode correct?)

            Here is the datasheet I believe(mine is a SB560):

One more thing In this image, the diode in question is the one just down and right of the red arrow(which marks my blown fuse)

Hey guys, still messing with this thing, trying to find the short.

Question: I have a bunch of very tiny SMD components labeled with CB designators. They look like tiny caps, but can anyone confirm? Tx!

Absolutely, sorry for not posting one and thanks for having a look. In this pic, you'll see the fuse that is blown and on the "dead" side it's shorted to ground.

I'm just trying to back trace and test parts but wasn't sure what "CB" designates???

That is capacitor, what type I cannot tell, it looks like they use CExxx for the ceramic type.

Thanks Budm, I thought so as well. It's not like I could replace that tiny thing anyway, just trying to see if I can trace this short.

I got the PSU running so I may end up biting the bullet and just source a main board... I'm just a persistent mofo, not to mention this is the TV I bought for $1,300...

BTW, I get 0.8 ohm resistance and no reading on capacitance on that cap. Tested other smd caps nearby and am getting readings so the meter is working it would seem.

Im new to this site: And have a question.
RE: I own and fix tv's, and picked up my first LG 50PC1DRA-UA plasma.
QUESTION: Can someone tell me where to go from here with these problems? here is the list.
                            1. TV was 1/2 working: Turn it on, then it BLINKS from black screen to snow, with a 2% image of the menuhiding in BG- probably a burnin on the plasma screen.
Replaced the Power Supply only to find out mine was good. Problem still blinking.
                            2. Replaced the z-sus board. Screen stopped blinking and stayed black = not an advancement someone said.
                            3. Bought and replaced the y-sus, and two buffer boards.
= TV FIXED and got image video back!
                            BUT, color is a bit weak, a little blurry, not very much better than a 2-3rd generation VHS resolution;
AND, the RED bleeds through the WHITES, even if I play a B&W old movie DVD.
Adjusting contrast and bright and all others, does not good, no matter what setting.
                            4. Images seem to surface crawl, with speckles and choppiness = EX: SKIN of faces will move around and act checkered...
LAST OF ALL: I live 150 feet away from MAIN electrical outlet and get only 109 AC volts to my motor home. With a few lights on, it drops to 98-100 volts. WOULD this effect this plasma TV?
SO??? Anyone want to challenge this?
It's a WHITE ELEPHANT if I don't get it fixed, and an EXPENSIVE one too.
                            Please reply soon.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                      Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

                                      Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

                                      More Details
