    SMD Resistor (Stumped)

    Hello,
I have an odd resistor that I cannot seem to figure out.

This is a logic buffer from a Panasonic Plasma. I shorted the resistors out when I dropped a screw that grounded out the board and now causes a black strip in the screen. I know I could replace the board but I would rather save a few bucks and try to replace the resistors.

I have never seen this resistor with a negative ( - ) symbol on a resistor and cannot find any information about it on the web. Does this negative mark change the value or should I just treat this as a 6.8 ohm resistor.

I hope someone will be able to shine the light on this -6R8 resistor

    Thanks

I would assume that to be 6.8

    what does it measure?

They are blown so it measured nothing. The same resistors next to these on a different channel measured 4.1 ohm.
I suppose that is my answer but I still have never seen them with this symbol and would like to know what it means.

        Re: SMD Resistor (Stumped)

Safest route (as far as value measurement is concerned) would be to unsolder them from the board and measure them out-of-circuit.

Looks to me like they're part of some RC filtering circuit (with that chunky 1210(?) cap to their right)...

I cant find anything relating to a minus sign before the 6R8 perhaps the manufacturer produces 3 digit code and 4 digit code resistors and HAS to print something when it is only 3 digit value? I would go for 6.8 ohms.

Hate to bear bad news but if you've got a black bar it might not just be those resistors -- the panel driver may be fried (which is bonded to the plasma panel, so is unreplaceable.)

I believe Selldoor has the correct answer. The "-" is just a place holder.

I may just treat it as a 6.8 Resistor. The idea of it just being an extra placeholder for a 4 digit code makes since.
I do hope the panel is not bad but we will see. I will try to replace the resistor and if that doesn't work I will replace the board. If that doesn't work than I will know that I have ruined the panel

                Thanks for the advise guys.
