    Samsung PS-507-phn

I have a power supply board with the above part number. It is missing 4 caps (last person to look at it decided to remove them and never replaced) Can someone confirm what the values and voltages are for caps DC8524, DC8404, DC8405, and DC8407. The only clues I could find was 680uf (from a foreign forum that I couldn't translate) and probably a 12mm diameter cap (from a visual inspection of the board)

    Any help is much appreciated.

That is not a valid Samsung part #. What is the model number and version number of the TV?

It came from a Phillips plasma tv (not sure of the model number). It is a Samsung board (power supply). Indicates Model number PS-507-PHN. Other numbers on the board are LJ41-05253a and LJ92-01511a

        Re: Samsung PS-507-phn

It may be built by Samsung FOR Philips, but that really does not make it a Samsung board. the part numbers are not recognized at all by Samsung. It appears to be used ONLY in 1 model of Philips TV, so for purposes of researching service information or parts, it is more productive to call it what it is - a Philips part. The model # for the Philips TV is 50PFP5332D/37. The Philips part # for that board is 996510010206. I will see if I can find out values for the Caps on my next break.

If you aren't in possession of the TV, how are you going to test the part once you find out what the caps are and install them?

Hi - you mean this one - see pic.

If no-one can tell you the voltage, if it comes on at all can you measure
across where the caps go and see what voltage is there.

Googling the last number on your board brings this up

But its a bit sparce as to where the info is from.

randtek, we know the caps that were there were swollen and bad so we are going to start there once I can identify the caps. Problem is the tech that removed them no longer works for that company.

I guess I can try to locate some 680uf 25v or 35v caps 12.5mm x20mm and give them a try. Should these be low-esr caps?

You can of course try what you like -did you read either of my previous posts?

Selldoor, yes, indeed I did. It appears that they are 680uf but never found the actual voltages, so I guess 25v/35v may be acceptable.

Well according to the download I posted they are 50v?? which would cover all eventualities.

The numbers in that document don't macth the numbers on the board I have. That is why I hesitate a bit. I truly appreciate everyone's input thus far.

                          They are all 680uF/50V

                            Re: Samsung PS-507-phn

I also have this Samsung PS-507-PHN power supply but my TV is a Philips 42PFP5332D/37... Must be in the same family of Plasma TV.

When plugged in, the red LED on the front of the TV flashes a 6X blink code. Further disassembly and inspection of the daughterboard on the power supply shows a 8X blink code. The 8X blink means "THERMAL" from words printed on the circuit board but I have no idea what this means? The 8X blink code from the LED on the power supply occurs no matter if all the boards are connected or if all of the boards are unplugged from the power supply so this is definitely a power supply problem... It happens right away as soon as the PSU is connected to 120V mains so I find it hard to believe it is a "thermal" problem since nothing has a chance to warm up.

I already replaced two 680uF/50V caps (DC8404 and DC8405), and a 1000uF/16V cap (DC8013) but this problem persists...

Does anyone have a schematic or service manual that explains what this error code is?

I hope someone can help me out.

                            Thanks.

                              Hello again:

There has been no replies to my last post, so I'm posting in here again to see if anyone has a schematic for this power supply?

I still have the same problem (6x front blink and 8x blink on PSU daughterboard) and cannot figure out a solution.

Is there anyone who can help?

I am also in desperate need of a schematic for this PSU, i'm getting the 8 green blinks indicating a thermal error code. i dont have a clue where a thermistor is on the board, anyone?

                                Thanks

Here I am zombifying this thread but, for future reference. I believe that that's the thermistor.

                                    Thermistor will be labeled NTC.

This temperature sensor is a PTC thermistor.
