Yes. And yes.
I also saw a Samsung 50 inch plasma on sale on Gumtree (free ad site like Craigslist.) It was a bad panel but from the photo I immediately knew that the guy had broken it accidentally while trying to repair another fault. Half the screen was black apart from a few white lines I'll call "fuzzies" -- these weren't solid, but intermittent. The only way that happens is if you disconnect the address connector and plug it in while the set is running. Any vertical line. It means the driver IC for that area of the screen is fried. A single line is a fried output on the driver but the rest of the IC works. A black or white bar is a completely fried driver. And the drivers are bonded to the panel.

I recently repaired a 42" Vizio LCD/LED Edge by replacing the T-CON Board, it had been working great for 2 weeks but on Thanksgiving Day it had been on for probably 12 hours when two faint black vertical lines about 2" apart appeared in the very middle of the screen, I had it on a cable channel, tried several channels and it was the same on all of them. Turned TV Off for a few minutes then back on, the lines disappeared and have not returned yet.
(keeping my fingered crossed) with the tv being on several hours at a time.Comment

I have a vizio that almost looks the same as the first pic. The difference is it is the whole left side. When I leave it on for about 30 -45 mins. it works great. Is there a shot that it is the tcon board? I was wondering this because of it working fine when it runs for a while. Any ideas will be very helpful. Thank You in advanceComment

Failure Symptom
No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.
Where is the short?
Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

I picked up a Vizio E70-E3 for free that shows Vizio logo and then goes to a black screen. Original owner said he started having wifi issues and then he tried to reset the TV and that's when it wouldn't boot up any longer after his reset attempt. I picked up a replacement main board from eBay that matches the same model # board as the original from the TV.
Original main board - Shows Vizio logo when TV powers on, then goes to black screen. Doesn't boot up. No screen issues with any lines on start up Vizio logo.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

I recently replaced the led backlights with LB65041 LED Backlight Strips and after putting it back together the backlights work but there are only colored vertical lines only in the center of the tv. I can see the Netflix logo (jumbled) after a minute or less the screen went dark. When I turned it on again the lines were back. Then I replaced the t-con board but the same vertical lines in the picture. My question is what is my next step? Could it be a source tab bond issue? A buffer board issue? Could I have loosened a connection to the panel when replacing the backlights? Should I replace the... -
I am trying to help my friend to fix his Vizio tv with a vertical line on the screen. The line is on the right side. It is blue/purple on the right side starting from the top. But it only goes to about 3/4 of the screen height (not to the bottom of the screen). It is very obvious when the screen is dark and it is hard to be seen when the screen is bright. Please help....
