If it has 3.3V output and the input is 7.2V, that means it has 3.9V across it. So it depends on how much current is flowing through the regulator, that power will have to be dissipated by the regulator. The only way to find out is to measure the current draw which means you have to the DC AMP meter between the output of the regulator and the load to find out if the current exceeds the spec or not.
