Sony KDL 40W4500 - Blinks Twice

Hi,

I obtained a Sony KDL 40W4500 which blinks twice when turned on.
So no screen, menu etc.

Attached the pictures. Any idea what could be it? Caps seem ok to me..

Ive read its a short in the psu.

It says:

02DC_DET (12V main voltage).VERDIn normal mode.Goes into standby and LED flashes.

So it should be something with the PS. Any tips on how to troubleshoot? Or should I replace the whole PS?

have you got a multi meter you can check the voltages on the connectors usually there marked with what they should be. its hard to see in your pics maybe some good pics of the connectors and writing by them could help us.

I measured the plug in the image. It says 12v but gives 0v (If i measured right..)

are the rest of the voltages ok ie 5 volt ones

Do you know which chassis number you have?
the chassis eg1l does not match your TV.

Me & tom got hold of 1 of these yesterday with tab bond issue..stripped it down 2 repair but working on a kitchen floor is a bit crap..some how we cracked off a tiny corner of the screen & now its fookedall the boards r fine inside so probably gonna ebay it..if you need any parts for yours PM myself or Tom as we need 2 get sumat bk from this set..thx

This cannot be the issue that the sides are not getring enough pressure right?

What you could also try is to see if it will go into the 'self-diagnosis' screen; In standby mode, press the following sequence of buttons in quick succession on the remote control:
i+ button (on screen display) > 5 (digit 5) > - (volume down) > I/O (tv power/standby)

This should bring up the 'errors screen' where you can scroll through the log.

No on our TV we had a perfect pic if the TV was given a whack on the side, otherwise the pic would be there but blurry or jumping up and down. Sadly the panel got a tiny chip in the edge while we were putting it back together. Didn't crack the LCD, but some tiny lines on the glass surface got severed... basically writing off the screen...

Any other tips on how to fix the PS? I can get a new one for about 30 pounds shipped. I'll do that if there is no other fix.

New main board then I would guess, unlikely to be t-con. You can contact sienoki as he has all boards for this TV.
