Re: Philips 52PFL5704D/F7 Sound and Backlight, No Video.
TV unplugged, put the meter in Ohm mode, black lead to the chassis, red lead to the end of the fuse that shows no voltage, see what resistance reading you are getting, we are trying to see if it has shorted circuits, it can be due to shorted MLCC (Muti-Layer-Ceramic-Capacitor), also may have bad regulators IC's.

Yes I have 12v on one side and 0 on the other. Assumed it was a fuse and it's not testing good one way like a diode. Like I said I may have blown the fuse by accident with the probe when I was testing..Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 52PFL5704D/F7 Sound and Backlight, No Video.
If I disconnect the LVDS#2 cable from the T-Con board my set will turn on and display the exact symptoms that you described. I have sound and backlight but no picture. I spoke with the Philips authorized repair tech in our area and he agreed that the T-Con board was most likely the problem. It sounds like there is a shorted component in my T-con board causing the set to go into protect mode and shutdown.
Did you say that the XD part was open on your board or was it reading 0 Ohms?Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 52PFL5704D/F7 Sound and Backlight, No Video.
My TV turns on with backlight and sound but no picture, guy I got it from says he had Sears come out and they diagnosed it as the TCon or Panel not sure, but they said it wasn't available for repair. I think they were talking about the TCon, although there is model TV on ebay right now with a black vertical line so maybe they have panel problems too.Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 52PFL5704D/F7 Sound and Backlight, No Video.
Hope you don't mind if I add, not trying to steal your thread. I have the exact same model it will not power on. I did find a T-Con board but it apparently was the last one in the world. www.plasmafix.com.
I've measured the XD part on my T-Con board and it reads a dead short. I tried looking up XD in the SMD Cook book and the same code could be used for different parts. http://www.scribd.com/doc/5752354/SMD-Catalog shows the part could be a zener diode, but not sure.
A schematic for the T-con board would be nice indeed, but I think it was part of the LCD which is manufactured by Sharp...
Ok, found some more info. It looks like it could be a fuse with a 4 current rating but I can't tell for sure which package size, it's either 0805 or 1206.Last edited by Hayneskr; 08-08-2012, 08:01 PM.Leave a comment:

OK will try, also that T-Con board is not available anywhere I could locate and there's another member looking for one on here too...Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 52PFL5704D/F7 Sound and Backlight, No Video.
i think the "xd"part is a fuse also,it looks very similar to a ds lite fuse,if it has blown which you said it showed open,in ohms range measure across the pads and it should be very high resistance, that will tell you that the tcon isnt shorted,if you only get a few ohms then it will indicate a short, these fuses do fail for no reason ,just age really.i say replace with a new fuse if you get high resistance across the pads, and see what happens.
if this dosent work ,then replace the whole t con, there isnt much thats easy to replace on them.apart from that voltage reg i marked in yellow.Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 52PFL5704D/F7 Sound and Backlight, No Video.
I would say fuse. T-con for a 52" would draw close to 2 amps at 12V so use a 4 amp fuse for reliability.Leave a comment:

Still no ideas? I did say that I had 12v on one side of that XD component but not the other side right?Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 52PFL5704D/F7 Sound and Backlight, No Video.
looking at this a little logically, the smd cap just above the "2 banded component",has its negative mark on it so that is too ground, follow that trace down does it join to the end of the "2 banded component".if it does then the banded part cant be a fuse, thats just like connecting positive and negative together in series with a fuse, and would go bang!the positive trace is where the xd part isLeave a comment:

I have SM but no schematic of the T-Con. If anyone wants me to email it lemme know.Leave a comment:

HMM , a schematic for that t con would enlighten!,hopefully someone will know what xd is,baffled me that one hasLeave a comment:

Re: Philips 52PFL5704D/F7 Sound and Backlight, No Video.
if that is a fuse, and your meter was on 200ohm setting, then that"fuse"is good,im a little stumped as to wether it is a fuse !because the marking isnt no where near it !,what resistance reading do you get across "XD" ?Leave a comment:

What ever XD is it's open in circuit. The cylinder tests 0.00.Leave a comment:

im not sure what the cylinder with the bands on it are,if that was a fuse, there is room next to it to silkscreen the legend next to it?.
if it is a fuse, ive never seen one like that on a t-con,every smd fuse ive seen is prefixed with a letter ,D being 250maLeave a comment:

Re: Philips 52PFL5704D/F7 Sound and Backlight, No Video.
Yes that's what I thought was the fuse. FYI the fuse you told me to check IS open at this point.
I will post back other info.Leave a comment:

Re: Philips 52PFL5704D/F7 Sound and Backlight, No Video.
Crap that is open but I think I did it myself I think I checked it at first and it was good. Was thinking the component just to the bottom left of it was the fuse and I hit the probe to something saw a spark. Can you point me to a replacement for that on Digi-Key??
Must have been brain dead just checked voltage and have 12v at one side of the fuse. So at least I know now it's getting the voltage however still think there is another problem...
Secondly I believe the Black rectangular component marked XD is a resistor and the fuse is the cylindrical component with the two black bands.Leave a comment:

by Max514Hi all,
Ok so I have this beautiful un55h8000 samsung tv with sound but no video nor backlight. When turning the set on the red light blinks 5 times.
The screen shows no damage and backlight turns on when I disconnect the power supply from the main board. The tcon board only has 2 out of 3 leds on.
I came across this page and followed the different steps: https://techhometravel.com/samsung-u...ight-no-video/
- Unplugging the main board cable at the power supply >>> backlights came on.
- BLU_ON signal from the

by triplefourthis tv is throwing me for a loop. do samsung tvs no longer have the backlight self test feature built into the power supply?
i tested the backlight with my LED tester and it lights up both strips. one of them reads 100v and the other reads 63.7v.
unplugged mainboard from power supply but left backlight plugged in, and then plugged psu wall power in. expected to see backlights light up but see nothing.
according to how ive diagnosed in the past, this would almost always be a bad power supply. replacement power supply was cheap like 20$ from ebay. but still i get not even... -
by IerwinHello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged... -
by bohabohawhen i power on the TV is black ,Do I remove the right or the left ribbon I get respectively the right or the left half screen working
Do I disconnect the plug from the power supply, no backlight
Thought the backlight would light up when you remove the plug from the power supply but no
What could be wrong if both halves work separately?... -
by gl4709I am working on a Samsung un55cu7000d which has backlights and audio. There is no picture. This model does NOT have a separate TCON board. Before I order a main board I would like to try and confirm that the issue is not in the display. The ribbon cable from the main board goes directly to the display and I can then disconnect the left from the right. When I disconnect the right side the display lights up on one side but has no video being displayed. Can you all give me some guidance on how to confirm the main board is the issue.
