Re: Philips 52PFL5704D/F7 Sound and Backlight, No Video.
That is correct, my fuse is still good. My T-Con board has other problems. I lifted the the legs on the IC201 reg to see if it was shorted out of circuit and it seems to be testing good. Not sure what component might be bad now. I will keep checking.

Re: Philips 52PFL5704D/F7 Sound and Backlight, No Video.
If I disconnect the LVDS#2 cable from the T-Con board my set will turn on and display the exact symptoms that you described. I have sound and backlight but no picture. I spoke with the Philips authorized repair tech in our area and he agreed that the T-Con board was most likely the problem. It sounds like there is a shorted component in my T-con board causing the set to go into protect mode and shutdown.
Did you say that the XD part was open on your board or was it reading 0 Ohms?

Re: Philips 52PFL5704D/F7 Sound and Backlight, No Video.
Hope you don't mind if I add, not trying to steal your thread. I have the exact same model it will not power on. I did find a T-Con board but it apparently was the last one in the world. www.plasmafix.com.
I've measured the XD part on my T-Con board and it reads a dead short. I tried looking up XD in the SMD Cook book and the same code could be used for different parts. http://www.scribd.com/doc/5752354/SMD-Catalog shows the part could be a zener diode, but not sure.

Re: 52PFL5704D/F7 dead except for click when power cord attached...
Thanks for the info. I am sure the T-Con board is bad. I am hoping the SSB is still good. I've been searching for the T-Con board but everyone seems to be out of stock. I will keep checking. When I get a T-Con board i will let you know if it fixes the problem or if I have to also purchase the SSB .
Later,
Kurt

Re: 52PFL5704D/F7 dead except for click when power cord attached...
Did you ever fix the problem?
I have the exact same model and it will not turn on.
I disconnected the LVDS connector on the top left of the SSB and applied power and the set came on as well as the back light and all voltages are good.
I wonder if the power supply could cause this problem?
Hope you got yours fixed!
