    Re: Vizio VO42L question

What kind of voltages should I expect at the FET transistors or transformer inputs?
On the secondary transformer inputs, all the inputs are 5.8V, and on the master all the inputs are 0.228V.

      Re: Vizio VO42L question

There will be 24V at the Drain of two MOSFET's top half of the bridge setup, the drive is a full bridge setup, since all the MOSFET's are off when they are not driven by the IC, the Source/Drain center connection will be 0 volt, the transfomer has DC blocking caps which means you will not see any DC voltage reading on the primary winding, see the SCH I provided earlier.

        Re: Vizio VO42L question

I'm not that good to be able to diagnose this any further.
I have re-checked both boards, I have notices some solder ball under the slave chip and by trying to remove it from behind the chip's pins I have noticed that one of the pins wasn't soldered properly.
So went through both chips again and after re-soldering each pin, I have got a change on the master board.
I have almost the same voltages as the slave FETs, but still a no go.

There is only one fuse on these boards or there is another one?
I see in repair kits they sell a 0.1ohm fusible resistor also with the IC and FET transistors.
I also see some new replacement boards from China, anybody has any experience with these? Both for $36!!

I saw those kit with the 0.1 Ohm resistors in the kit, it does not say where they used at, i am sure they want you to buy the kit to find out where they go.
              $38 for both is cheap!

Cheap and hopefully the problem it's gone. I will look one more time at this TV and if I can't see anything wrong then I will buy these boards.

OK, I have got those new style boards in and the TV it's alive!!!
The only issue I have is that I can't install the metal shield on them.

Glad to hear that they fixed the problem. I left my metal shields off, it will run cooler, and since they are inside the TV, the customer cannot get to them unless they open it up.

Vizio E55-E1 bad backlights or bad inverter?

I just got this tv today and it appeared to have no backlight on. After taking off the rear cover and checking again in the dark I can see that MAYBE one quadrant is lit.. But still it's quite dim. I was going to check the LEDs with my tester, and I found LED 1 and LED 2 + pins on the wire from the inverter, but I couldn't identify a ground. Nonetheless I tried using a mounting screw on the inverter board and also the chassis as ground but regardless my tester reads 300 which is what it reads when there is no voltage draw.

I don't know how exactly to test the inverter itself. Is it...

We've had our Vizio VO42L since before 2010, and it's worked flawlessly this entire time. However, just recently it started emitting a high-pitched buzzing/humming sound. I followed the basic troubleshooting tips of just unplugging it for a moment, and even holding down the power button while doing so, all to no avail.

Furthermore, after I attempted these basic steps and powered the TV back on it would always begin visually flickering while the sound stuttered. After a few moments of being turned on this would go away, but it still periodically comes back.

                      I also...

                      Hi.

picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED...
