What are yall using to clean LCDs

I fix quite a few tv's so am pretty carefull not to touch the screens, but the majority i get come dirty to begin with. Usually you can clean them up fairly easily, just be carefull not to drag the dirt around or youll get fine scratches on the bezel for the most part.

But occasionally theres one with really oily finger / smudges on the screen that stand out when the screen is off, and you look at the right angle...

My default cleaning solution is 20% isopropyl alcohol / 80% water, and some really stiff paper wipes that dont lint up the screen. But that doesnt seem to get the oilyest fingerprints off.
Fixed so far 12 lcd's , 1 plasmas, 5 monitors, 0 dlp's (plan to keep the dlps at 0). and 3 atx power supplies, and 2 motherboards.

Microfiber cloth with a few drops of water:

Not the towel ones, these finer ones.

On some monitors, it's a bad idea to use isopropyl alcohol or any kind of alcohol, just water is enough.

ordinary glass cleaner + a microfiber cloth (preferably not a brand new one that still "lints out")

Yeah i know viewsonic recomends not using isopropyl alcohol. Thats why i dilute it fairly strongly to only 20%. But i believe (from experience), that it just causes a streaky finish on viewsonic monitors.

And what do you mean by ordinary glass cleaner > the standard here in US is amonia based windex > but most fake windex's are just water + evaporation agent + blue dye.
It is usually stated in the manual for most sets to not use ammonia based cleaner. But the ones that are just water that evaporates quicker might be safe.

Ordinary glass cleaner is not recommended, they often have more chemicals which can attack the surface of the LCD screen.
          Windex I'm sure is bad.

There are LCD cleaning substances, they're usually distilled water plus perfume and maybe a bit of isopropyl alcohol, but regular water is often better.

My Samsung monitors came with microfiber cloth and also said regular water should be used only.

just whatever we have in stock. any glass cleaner should do the trick, so long as you're actually cleaning glass, you don't spray the screen directly, and you let it evaporate.

most contain ammonia...so again, not recommended to uses glass cleaner!

light soapy water mix! works real well, then once tv screen is done ya just continue on to the walls!

If you have a Big Lots store they have Endust for Electronics LCD and Plasma Wipes. Says they are Alcohol & Ammonia Free and Anti-Static. I think they also go under the name Odd Lots in some areas.

ammonia will cause some screens to go a "milky"color due to a reaction with the plastics in the lcd layers, may be ok on some plasmas though as long as they are true real glass, then again you could use any window cleaner spray for them

yeah, when i said glass cleaner for glass, i was thinking of the protective screen on plasmas. that's good information to know about LCD screen plastics.

Philips lcd gel cleaner and 2 soft wash cloths one to wipe and another to dry

i figured out that if you don't use 2 cloths like that wither its a window or electronic screen you will get smears every time

other then that if there no finger prints on the screen i just use a swifter micro fiber duster thing on it

I wanted to check with the board before I do anything foolish and/or irreversible. Can someone please set me straight on the use of isopropyl alcohol to clean electronics? I understand it is commonly used to clean electrical contacts. However, in this case, I am wondering if I can safely immerse a small electronic item in alcohol provided a) all power has been removed and b) I take care to dry it thoroughly before re-applying power.

The short version is that I am seeking to clean an older used (well-used) electronic item. The basic plan is to immerse it in...

This is my first post after browsing this wonderful treasure trove of knowledge for many, many evenings. I've decided to learn how to fix these things, properly.

My patient is an A2338 Macbook Pro M1 (late 2020).

It had some corrosion around JT710 and JT700 caused by liquid spill, as well as against the protective barrier around the USB-C chips UF000 and UF100. So I took the main board out and cleaned it with a toothbrush and alcohol, then with alcohol in an ultrasonic cleaner. Cleaned the touchbar flex connectors as well. The board looks...

                                  Hello everyone,

I'm facing an issue with a HEG-001 motherboard that is unable to complete the Second-Stage Boot. I'd like to start directly with my conclusion, which is the decision to replace the MAX77621AEWI chip, and understand if it could be a correct evaluation.

Before I dive into the process that led me to this decision, I want to mention that I have a fully equipped lab where I can perform any kind of tests.

                                  Let's begin:

Following some guides online, I tried to understand how the Boot phase of the Nintendo Switch works, and what are the...

Hey yall, got a used TV for free. (Yay) then it died the next day... (my luck)..

Pulled back cover off and tested everything best I could, but lost on things. Pin 15 bus5v (standby?) I do have 5v. Sometimes it's 2.5v. I tried to force on the board by shorting 15 and pin 14 (pwon) and it didn't make a difference. Now what I find weird is my voltage on the hot side is 60vac. At caps and everything. Fuse reads 120vac.

Tested the common diode and even changed it and still nothing.

So what would be a good next step to try to figure this out.
