Dont have it yet. Slow day at work and trying to be prepared. I know how much i question every little thing , and worry if i do it right I'm sure im overcomplicating it. Sorry for that in advance.. lol. Once i catch on to the basics it all gets very simple.Comment

No worries. With power off and the TV unplugged, there is very little you can do to damage the TV, multimeter or yourself.
Both the resistance and diode checks are done with the power off and TV unplugged.
It is when the power is ON, that you have to be careful because one slip of the probe can cause a short.

Plug your red probe into the red circled spot. Black probe into COM. The black probe will always stay in COM.
1) For the diode test, set the meter to the diode test function (blue).
2) For the resistance test (fuse), set the meter to the 200 (two hundred) scale (yellow).--- begin sig file ---

Re: Phillips 42PFL5432D/37 Chirping and No Picture
Ok, first results..
ZD904 .02 and .02
ZD902 .05 and .05
D925 .07 and .07
D912 .000 and .000
I should desolder one side from each to retest now? I've repeatedly been getting the same results. There are other D and ZD diodes that the results came back fine.
Edit: checking fuses right now, so far so goodLast edited by tw1ztid; 01-23-2012, 12:08 AM.Comment

It is possible that something else on the board is shorted and causing all these potentially false positives.--- begin sig file ---

Re: Phillips 42PFL5432D/37 Chirping and No Picture
Thanks, never seen a fuse other than the glass looking ones.
All 4 read at .3, so they seem fine.
So far we're down to either
1) Diodes are bad and need replaced, casualties from when the Caps went bad?
2) Another (larger?) part of the power board is causing a false positive.
I'm leaning towards number one, like Mr. Bills situation, but I know to expect the unexpected.. I'll start off by removing one leg of each diode and checking for false positives. If they are, what do you recommend for being my first plan of action?Comment

BTW, there is no such thing as "no reading". If it reads "1" on the left hand side, that means "out of range" or "infinity".
Remember a diode lets current one way and blocks the other way.
Hmm, we get this on a daily basis now. Time to write another guide. See

D925 is good. What about D912?

by BloopetaPhillips 58PUS7805/12, was told it had sound no picture, sometimes picture would come back then go again?
From what I have seen myself, its just blank illuminated screen. Tried unplugging each ribbon cable from Tcon in turn.
When one is unplugged, I get half sceen, clear picture.
With other unplugged, get half screen but with thin horizontal lines
Any ideas? Or is it likely a bad panel?... -
by Tr0llHi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.
The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.
Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.
First replacement T-con:
I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)... -
by JJAAMMThis was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.
Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode... -
by TR103Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
- sound and backlight, but no picture
- when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
- it keeps rebooting
- without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
- without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
- when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.
- without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered... -
by MgiffuneI have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.
I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and... - Loading...
