Re: LG 42LC46 problem
It would be better if you could borrow an oscilloscope... even a basic 20 MHz analogue one will be able to do a go/no-go on the LVDS waveforms. (I've used one before to check if they were present and they appear as a sine wave.)Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: LG 42LC46 problem
I think I have the same set. My scenario is the guy that brought it to me picked it up as a freebie and it wouldn't power on. Well he decided to take the back off and go exploring, he found some bulged caps on the PS so he tried replacing them. He got it to power on but it would shut off after 10 minutes. He brought it in to me and I observed that he had reversed polarity on all 8 of the caps he had replaced not to mention a very shoddy soldering job. I removed and replaced all the caps he replaced. One of the caps he removed in a rough fashion and ripped the solder pad off of the pcb. I tried to make the solder stick but it doesn't look so well. Anyways, the tv now powers on and stays on but the picture is horrible. I have posted pics to try and show the quality. I'm at a loss of if he damaged the PS somewhere causing this or maybe it's the main board or tcon. Any suggestions would be helpful.Comment

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.
We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Re: LG 42LC46 problem
Also need to mention that even though the picture is distorted, when I press the menu, it comes up looking great. It kind of makes me feel like it's in the main board as the inputs are what's distorted. Also I think if it were the tcon even the menu would look bad.Comment

Re: LG 42LC46 problem
It's quite possible the EEPROM has become corrupted and in the process has messed up some very important picture settings - common on Samsung TVs with bad caps. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: LG 42LC46 problem
Any way to check this without swapping boards? I would think the EEPROM can't just be replaced without being programmed, Right?Comment

Re: LG 42LC46 problem
Found something interesting. I noticed when powering up the tv the video looked fine for just a second and then it cuts out to no signal for about 10 seconds and comes back on distorted. I started checking some of the pins going to the main board and one stood out, it's the VBR-B. There's a VBR-A that reads 3.3V but VBR-B was only reading 2.7v. I jammed my probe into the VBR-B and powered it on from a cold shut down. When the tv first powers on and the display is good, I get 3.3 volts on the VBR-b pin and then it zeroes out while the no signal was displayed and then when the distorted picture comes back on the voltage is only 2.7VComment

Re: LG 42LC46 problem
I've never looked for them before - perhaps digikey or mouser? I'm on my iPhone right now but will have a look when I return home (out picking up a 42" HD LCD with cracked screen for free - now missus wants to do some shopping!)Comment

Re: LG 42LC46 problem
Well, i've fixed the power board that the customer messed up by cutting a small staple and soldered it to a trace connecting to the positive side of that capacitor. Seems to be working just fine, not the best looking thing but hey it works.Comment

by THXFXHi I need help with a Samsung un43nu7100 BN94-13191C/BN41-02635A with boot loop problem even with tcon jumper.
I've already try tape method and same happen, if I disconnect both flex from mainboard to panel tv boots normal even I hear Samsung sound.
When I solder jumper to make t-con work with or without panel or panel cables connected it still reboot or power cycling.
What I noticed is that there's no voltage in VHG, HAVDD, PANEL_3.3V, AVDD_17V or 12v near dc-dc chip.
I check capacitors and diodes and didn't find any short IN MAINBOARD.

by theone111I have an LG Plasma TV 60PM6700 for the past ~12 years.
In the last ~3-4 months I have been having some issues.- Problem: It started with random picture disappearing (sound still worked).
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait a few seconds before turning it on again. - Problem: Then it got worse and the TV started to shut down and when turning on the no picture just sound.

by x_orange90_xJust bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

by advantThis thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.
I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match... -
by Zeonalbastai have a problem with thinkpad X1 carbon gen 2 "LMQ-1MB 12298-2 48.4LY26.021"
The laptop was turned off because the MOSFET was not transmitting voltage. After checking it turned out that the gate pin on the MOSFET was the problem, because it was producing an inappropriate voltage. and it was discovered that the problem was with the Think engine, so I decided to reprint each pin, and finally the mosfet could work properly. However, there is another problem, even though the voltage has been supplied to the laptop, it still won't turn on, there isn't even an LED indicator. After double... - Loading...
