Re: LG 55LN5400 LED flash then dark troubleshooting
Is there a point that i can check for fluctuation? I checked the PSU output and it was a steady 116vdc. Hopeful DHL can get off their rump and get me some LED's in the next day or two. I'm ready to be done with this set already....

Re: LG 55LN5400 LED flash then dark troubleshooting
New LEDs still haven't arrived.... Stupid DHL! put the tv back together to get out of the way, plugged it in and it worked for a little bit but then went black again. Is it really possible to have faulty LED's even if they all light well? Maybe heat causes solder seperation. The set works fine and all are lit when testing.

Re: LG 55LN5400 LED flash then dark troubleshooting
I have a set coming in today or tomorrow….. I may wait til main board comes in anyways as one of the hdmi ports are jacked up. I think my output voltage was around 110v dc for the backlights when testing to chassis ground. Hoping I don't have to replace the LEDs but I'll have them if I need to. They all looked pretty darn good when testing though....

Re: LG 55LN5400 LED flash then dark troubleshooting
I forgot to mention. Power button changes nothing on my voltages. Tv is always in power on state when plugged in. This has mostly been main board in the past for me. I found one off eBay for $15 so I’m gonna go ahead and give it a shot.

LG 55LN5400 LED flash then dark troubleshooting
Hey guys, been a while since I've been in here but had some spare time to troubleshoot a tv that has had an issue for a bit. I initially assumed I had bad LEDs and tore the set down to test. LEDs all lit up and seemed fine using my tester. Reassembled and went to troubleshooting boards. PS board has all correct voltages across the outputs. Not really sure what to test in the main board… I did check the fuse on the T-con and it has continuity but no voltage tested to chassis ground. Am I wrong in my assumption the main board has failed somewhere? Shouldn't the Tcon board have 12v dc?...

Re: Need help finding IC PLEASE!!
Bud, Parts arrived and installed. My only question is, is it necessary to replace the rubbery silicone material over the leads? Will it arc if I don't? If necessary, what is this material?

Re: Need help finding IC PLEASE!!
Thanks. I actually filtered it down earlier on mouser.com to a 2 watt. Got my order in, hopefully they will ship fairly quick. I'm only 160 miles from the factory right now.

Re: Need help finding IC PLEASE!!
Okay, I'll search for a resistor as well. Any clue on wattage? I looked earlier and was seeing 1w,2w, and 3w....

Re: Need help finding IC PLEASE!!
This resistor traces to pin 3 (Current Sense Pin) on the SMPS. This pin on the SMPS appears to have suffered the most heat damage.

Re: Need help finding IC PLEASE!!
So, You got me thinking about the resistor now. I checked the resistor in the attachment below and found it open. According to digi-key resistor calculator, it should have 1.2 Ohms. The resistor seems to have been very hot and some of the ceramic has fallen off. Is it possible this is the root cause or am I chasing my tail here?...

Re: Need help finding IC PLEASE!!
Are there any consumer stores left in the U.S. that sells components or is everything basically order online? I have a Fry's a couple hours away but I don't want to drive there unless I know they have it.

Bud, is there a way to test the IC with a DMM?

Re: Need help finding IC PLEASE!!
Thanks, Bud. The chip was cracked across the top of the "B" and I thought it was an 8. Hard to see this shit without a magnifying glass! I believe you were the one who mentioned this chip was the 5v supply on the other post I found. I'll look for a replacement chip.
Oh and i'll get pics when I go outside and get my camera.

Need help finding IC PLEASE!!
Hey guys, been a while since I've been here but I have a Hitachi 42" tv here that I'm not getting standby voltage on. I found a chip on the board that that was cracked and I believe this may be my issue. From what I found on another post on here, this chip controls the standby voltage and PS_On voltage. The numbers on the chip are ICE380565
TV Model: Hitachi L42N03A
PS board : JSK4267-022C

Scorched power supply on Philips 47pfl3603d/f7 lcd tv
I have this 47pfl3603d/f7 on the bench for a friend of mine and I've never seen a power supply or transformer on anything scorch this badly. I believe the board is toasted and not repairable so I'm looking for a new one now. My question is would it be safe to replace the board? Is it possible that something in the tv caused the failure? Personally I believe it is just because of the amount of dust on the inside either conducting current to places it shouldn't have been conducted to or simply overheated from the amount of dust....Last edited by rmoody; 09-02-2013, 02:05 AM.
