Cheers for the links, I had completely forgotten about Cricklewood, I used to get stuff from them , must be 25 years back !! in my Hifi building days.

Got a couple of IC's and some fuses on order.

      thanks

Don't forget the caps. Capxon is about the worse brand of capacitors there is in the lcd world.

Re: Old git need help Goodmans LCD TV dead ..

finally got all the Caps odds sizes for most shops round here..

But all recapped . new IC in socket.. new fuse ..

whilst waiting, been round the board with meter .. looks like ZD101 is shorted . so another bit to get !

A bit hard to see what ident is on there .. looks abit like Z208 ( or B ?) .. possibly a small p on the end ?

          Any clues ?

          thanks

According to the schematic, ZD101 is a 1/2 watt 20 volt zener. Something like the 1N5250B should be suitable.

I'd suggest doing a little research. That zener is associated with the power FET in the SMPS. Off the top of my head, 22V is awfully close to 20V and 20V is a real handy number to pull out of the air. But the consequences of being wrong are pretty severe - lots of smoke and a smell of charred plastic.

For testing mosfets, I like to test for shorts. Measure the resistance between Gate-Source, Gate-Drain, and Drain-Source. Any reading under 30 ohms suggests it is shorted. If you are testing "in circuit", then remove the component and retest "out of circuit".

Others test mosfets like this ...

                    http://www.4qdtec.com/mostest.html

PS. I have an old Fluke 75 (purchased used).

Test off board the resistance between
                      Gate-Source = NC
                      Gate-Drain = 2.4 ohm
                      Drain-Source = NC

Just getting a IRF840 ( seems a reasonable equiv ?) to replace it

If you really need it that badly, i could buy it and send it over to you if you pay for it + shipping.

I hate when you find the exact spare part you need, but the seller refuses to send it anywhere other than the country he lives in
Happened to me quite a few times already..

                                19.90eur + 5eur shipping.
cheapest shipping option to the UK (?) is DHL w/o tracking (8.90eur).

so that would end up as roughly 34eur/46usd/30gbp total.

If you have paypal, that would be the easiest option. I would want the money beforehand though, as i don't want to spend ~25eur on a PSU board I don't need because you decide to fix your own one in the end (had something like this happen before.. that's what you get for trying to help sometimes..)

I'd say further details via PM?

edit: looking through that guys shop, it's kinda suprising this inverter/PSU board is as cheap as it is (especially considering it's supposedly new and unused). The other prices in his shop are pretty ridiculous, like 55eur for a 7" portable DVD player display, a 15" laptop LCD for 100 or a LCD inverter for 70eur

                                      Good day ladies and gentleman!

I am currently trying to repair a Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB LCD TV for a friend that has a weird audio problem. Basically everything works fine except for the heavily distorted sound when the Subwoofer module is connected and there is a buzzing sound coming from the PSU PCB.

This seems to be a rather rare TV so there is not much prior on topic help to be found however a service manual is available at the usual sources (Electro Tanya i.e.).

I think the PSU buzzing comes from one of the coils near the bridge rectifier but...

                                      Hi all,

As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?

I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.

Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. There is a 3V3 on a keyboard...

                                      hello guys,

                                      i need help to repair a edm-033 ps2
history : as always hdmi port and usb ports destroyed after unplugged
after change them, ps5 dead too : 1 beep, no blue light. after inspection 1.8v power was shorted, and because of dead panasonic chip. after remove it : no short anymore
                                      so i changed it
now i have got 5v stby,, 3.3v stby, 3.3v power, 1.8v power and no short on them
but the ps5 is dead again : 1 beep, near 10 seconds with power lines and then off, no blue light ...

i don't see any projection of liquid metal on pcb.
                                      ...

                                      Finding a dead short component

                                      Hi guys!
I searched for the term "dead short" in the forum but no specific thread came up however if I'm just blind and couldn't see the thread talking about this please forward me to that direction.
So my problem is I don't know how to find the source of a dead shorted voltage rail. Dead short = ~0 ohm resistance.
I have two VGAs (HD 4850 and HD 4870), both dead shorted to ground on the memory rail. I have the boardview file for the 4870 and the memory rail consists around ~7892346 capacitors...
I have a bench PSU and if I try to inject voltage the voltage...

Hello everyone hope all doing well!
I have this PSU (GPS450-AA delta oem) around for like 4-5 years and I had it recapped early 2020 or 2021 with mostly UCC KY and Nichicon PW's. The bulk was and still is fine, the original Ltec's were bloated and empty. The previous issue was some major coil whine noise and at times random shutdowns when going idle. Today it started tripping the mains breaker and I think I have dead APFC mosfets (20N60C3). Right now upon checking I have the Q1 and Q3 FETs dead so far and I guess those are responsible for the PFC circuit. The only thing I care is If there...
