    Re: Samsung LE32R88BD/ BN44-00155A

GM folks, this thread is full of knowledge. I have the BN44-00192A which is apparently similar or even a drop in replacement of the one in this thread.

Symptom: solid red stdby led. Tv is responsive to remote... The led blinks when I use it but that's all.

I already replaced all the caps on the mainboard side, they were visually bad. But the problem is still here.... I'll look for that resistor next the the big cap on the primary.

5vsb is present and I have a 4.3V ish PS_ON for a couple seconds when I use the power on button or the Power On button on the remote so I think the PSU never switches to high voltage.

Will check that next week end.

So the picture you showing is before the caps with bulging tops are replaced and all those bad brown conductive glues are removed? Do you get about 400VDC between the two legs of the main filter cap when it is turned on?

Hello budm, yes the photos are from before the caps replacement. I removed some of the glue, not all. I need to reopen the tv and finish the job. I'll check the 400V at that time.

I will post my findings when done.

Actually the glue you refer to becomes hydroscopic and absorbs moisture from the atmosphere , it then acts like a resistor and passes current.

It is also corrosive and will eat away the component leads and copper traces common problem since the 70's.

              Re: Samsung LE32R88BD/ BN44-00155A

              Hi all,
I'm trying to fix my LE32RB86 LCD TV.
I changed all caps on the power supply board but the TV still has problems.

When the TV is cold it takes 20 minutes to start before correctly shown the image. In this 20 minutes what you can hear is just noise and the red led continusly blinking and the blu light under the samsung brand switching between on and off.

What I understood is that if I heat the CPU board with an hairdryer the TV starts quite immediately.

Do you have any idea about what I can check on the CPU board?

              Thanks,

              Luca

                Re: Samsung LE32R88BD/ BN44-00155A

Alright, sorry for the delay. The main cap is at 175 V when the tv is on standby. When I try to power it on it doesn't change.

I checked the RM801 resistor and it has no continuity (infinite ohm reading).

As you'll see in the picture, there is a black trace bellow to blue capacitorCM818 apparently. I tried to remove the most glue I could. Kinda hard to do imho.

So what else do you think is fried beside the resistor? What can I check?

                Thanks

For slow start of the main board replace two surface mounted capacitors in the middle of the board , its the two that are larger than all the rest , from memory I think they are 1,000 uf but as I am at home now I dont have the cct ref numbers .

You can check the resistance between the Source pin and the Drain pin of the MOSFETs to see if it shows really low resistance first without removing them.

Can we see the pictures of your main board? More likely you have bad SMD caps on the main board that the ESR will go down when heated up so the board function again.
Since it is not the same model as in this thread, you should start a new thread.

                              QM801 which is a FQPF5N50C from is Fairchild is apparently shorted. I have 1.5ohms between D-S, D-G and S-G.

The other one is apparently fine. I have no resistance reading (open circuit)

                                  Hi guys,

I have a LA-32R8BDD.. pinched it off my friend as he was about to wang it in the skip. The TV turns on very briefly and then shuts off all together.. Not even a standby light until I press the power button again.

I'm pretty confident with a meter etc but could just do with someone pointing me in the right direction.

No obvious swollen caps or burns on any of the boards. Metered out most of the small fuses and checked the VCC on the inverter which remains at 24v steady even when the screen goes off.

Sorry if this sounds like a terrible explanation, I may require the odd prompt.

                                  Thank you
