I have found by wiggling the cables on the Tunner? board that the problem stops immediately. It does however come back as usual. Is this the inverter transformer problem? Where are the transformers?

1. Only one n in 'tuner'.

2. The inverter transformers are on the inverter. Tom66 did not see fit to provide us with a set of pictures (BAD Tom66!!!). You may have to make up for his omission.

3. You may not have the same problem. Fixing by wiggling cables usually means a bad solder joint. Try to localize the sensitive area.

Here are some transformers - the grey things. This was the one I replaced. (I didn't get a picture of the inverter itself.)

It sounds more like you have a loose connection on the main board / tuner board / SSB (small signal board, as Philips call it.) Whatever it is called... it could also be a cold joint on the connector or in rare cases, a failed board.

I can't remember that clearly, but I think the inverter got its on/off signal from the power supply, which got the on/off signal from the main board. However, some TVs bypass this and go straight to the main board from the inverter.

Here are some transformers - the grey things. This was the one I replaced. (I didn't get a picture of the inverter itself.)

It sounds more like you have a loose connection on the main board / tuner board / SSB (small signal board, as Philips call it.) Whatever it is called... it could also be a cold joint on the connector or in rare cases, a failed board.

With the TV off. Probe the two exposed pads next to the bulb connectors using your multimeter on the 2kohm range.

On my set, all transformers measured around 1550 ohms.

Although the screen clears after a while I have decided to replace the TV. What do you think it is worth?

You can do a temporary fix by applying pressure to the ribbon connectors on the top of the LCD. Though it will fail again soon.

The TV is only really good for parts if the LCD is on its way out.

Just got it in. Plugged it in, display lit up for half a second (with "EXT1" in the corner), then switched off. Looks like 2 seconds to black, I'll test the transformers and see if any need replacing. LCD panel is intact, although a bit dirty, and the video processor itself seems to be working, so the main board may well be unnecessary.

Just bought tv with same problem !
Don't suppose you could give me a part number for inverter please ?

I don't recall it, but you'll need to open up your set anyway, and it's written on the board. It's a Darfon inverter.

Replacing the transformer is much easier and cheaper though.

Many thanks ! Got one off eBay for £9.50! Has 10 inverters on the board ! Hopefully it will do the job . Was part no. 4H.V1838.461 /B

That is a panel issue most likely (like the Sonys) starting and will get worse (foam tape or not).

Or,

I would check the voltage into the t-con (at fuse) and see what the v is or if it isn`t stable upon turning on the tv.

Make sure you don`t have any cables near the t-con signal cable.

Check all power and signal cable routing.

Make sure all shields are in place around the t-con and inverter.

Help !! Now have LCD screen that only works with half the screen , but when you put pressure on the frame in top corner of the part not working it works perfectly ! Is this a screen problem or something loose ???

Probably a screen problem... By "not working" is there a blurry/slow picture or is it completely dark, and does it fade between sides or is there a sudden cut-off?

The screen is fine after 10 mins and a bit of pressure in top corner to get the screen perfect . It's blurry & straight lines at first . A bang on side of frame gives you a different amount of coverage . Had it on for 2 hours with film on & you couldn't get the screen to go bad . But when cold its as I said.

Should have said, when turned on cold ,I have it on hdmi so screen is blue all over (or meant to be ) but it's black in the places that's not blue. Not a straight line

Hello guys, my names rubbiks i'm new to badcaps forum and everything electronics. I would like to say a big thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread. Even though thread is old found this information to be exactly what was needed to fix my dumpster television.

As tom66 describes plugged set into wall, lit for half a second then straight to black screen. Removed inverter board to test transformers one through ten. T10 (5.2kohm) had higher kohm value than T1-T9 (2.10kohm) So went on the hunt through the vast pages of the internet and found some information about the suspect transformer (see attachment 6010BXXXXXX) Was going to replace T10 transformer but found it better value to replace inverter board second hand.

I have a two question for someone that knows, in the attachment 6010BXXXXXX bottom picture there are three abbreviations P1-P2 which I guess stand for primary resistance and S1-S2-S3-S4 secondary resistance. What does the third abbreviation NC stand for? and second question, do manufacturers such as Philips use more than one part number for this inverter board? Old board has two different part numbers for transformers.

Have another question about this television but will start a new thread as I dont think its related.
