The media receiver is worth more than the panel.

Re: Help With Troubleshooting Car Stereo (Speaker) Problem
If this is a factory system it is very common for the speaker voice coils to go open mostly from slamming the car doors.
I replace door speakers all the time. (GM cars) I check them with a 9 volt battery to the speaker terminals or ohm them with a meter (4 to 10 ohms) at the terminals of the speaker.
In your case it looks like the radio is the problem.
Any bench testing should be done with a 10 amp fuse in line from the battery or power supply.
As said above you will need...

Re: Olevia 242-t11 No picture
Bad fuse on t- con will give you a gray screen.
Olivia known for bad caps on power supply. I have fixed many of them.
Don`t judge the book (cap) by it`s cover!

I get these for 20 bucks or leave them alone!
I would not pay 100.00 for any tv today.

Re: Suspect T-Con board or ribbons
It`s not the t-con.
The first problem is Sanyo.
The second is the panel.
First try to clean and properly set the ribbon cables.
If that doesn`t work you have either a mainboard issue (not really) or a panel issue (most likely).

Re: Pioneer Plasma TV on standby and won't power on
This set should have red and blue leds that will both be lit if powered on with cover removed. (lock out)
I am not sure if all cmx models have both leds or not.
The main problem with these sets is buffer chip failure. The bigger problem is the buffer ics are part of the plasma panel and need to be replaced while still attached to the panel as there are no connectors from the panel to the buffer boards.

Re: Samsung FP-T5084 Won't turn on
There may also be a mosfet update for that power supply.
Replacing all caps is a good start.

Re: LG 50PX4R-ZB stuck in standby mode
ipm chips on the y board most common failure.
troubleshoot y board by unplugging main power feed cable going to y board.
power supply should come on and stay on when powering up tv again.
to reset from protect mode just unplug the tv and plug it back in. (ac in)
On this model the cable for the z board may feed off of the y board.
There are plenty of l/g threads on this forum.

Re: Philips 50FP5532D plasma Ysus fault
Used buffer or buffer ics are a really bad idea here.
The problem is you had a good y board and ruined it with used faulty buffers.
You do not want to put used buffers in any tv mostly if they didn`t come out of one of your tvs.
If you buy used buffers and they don`t work you can send them back. The problem is are they going to repair your y board for you that their bad buffer board ruined?
The easy answer is, no.
Also, rebuilt buffers are a bad idea too since these companies...

Re: RCA L40FHD41 LCD was dead, replaced all caps on PB, now has no audio
Your doing fine, no worries.
The audio amp is part of the mainboard and I can`t get a close look at where to look without the board in front of me.
I would start by following the speakers leads board connector that should lead you to an output ic most likely surface mount.
There are lots of mainboards on feebay pretty cheap for this unit.
If you recapped the power supply you may just be missing a power feed to the mainboard via a solder issue.

Re: 42LG30 TV flashing on and off, replaced power board, no change, stumped!
I have repaired very few power supplies on these units.
Mainboard failure very common.
L/G panel ok
China panel not ok (au-optronics) ccfl and inverter fail common and go together.
If this is a 42lg30 with nothing after it that should have an L/G panel.
There were a few models of these 42lg30-ua, 42lg30-ud They are all the same but use different boards except for the power supply. It is very important you note this when looking for boards....

Re: RCA L40FHD41 LCD was dead, replaced all caps on PB, now has no audio
If the amp output ic has issues it will take down the preamp (ground the signal).
Find the amp ic and it should have at least 12vdc going to it.
A good way to diag the output is to start in the middle. I do that by removing the output ic.
If the preamp signal shows up than you know you need output ic.
This may not be easy depending this tv`s audio circuit.

Re: polaroid 704 tablet backlight and power issues
I have worked on all the coby and toshiba entry level tablets for all the small kids to beat up on.
They have all moved up to Apple so I fix all of that stuff now.
More money to be made and parts are abundant too.
It`s all Dr. Shepard...Brain surgery...not always 100% outcome.

Re: polaroid 704 tablet backlight and power issues
I have worked on every tablet made just about, but not a polaroid.
All of the led tablets backlight runs on 5 to 12voltdc.
I have never had one fail.
I use them to backlight pumpkins, doll houses and school projects.
I use the batteries for hobby projects.
Sounds like you have a battery issue more than a backlight problem.
These smaller tablets do have battery charging issues and should use a switching power supply.
I had to buy special...Last edited by cadiman; 04-08-2013, 05:19 PM.

Re: Hitachi p50s601 possible power protection
Make sure to check large caps on the power supply secondary. If they are 2200 or 3300 caps you might want to change them. bulged or not.

Re: RCA L40FHD41 LCD was dead, replaced all caps on PB, now has no audio
I have picked up a few tvs and once repaired they had no audio.
The speakers were not set to off but as noted above the headphones were set to "on"
and that turned off the speakers.
On some types of tvs you need the remote to change the feature.

Re: olevia #237s11 firmware, corupt???
I have repaired a few different versions of these and I have run into the same issues with some models.
It just seemed like a cheap tv with cheap firmware so I never did anything about it.
