Re: Emerson 32" lcd, LC320EM82 S power issues(sony bravia??)
Ok so i took the board out and i took some pictures (attached)
one is the pic of my voltmeter and my setting (to make sure im doing it right)
second is the pic of my transformer and where im putting the black and red needles
everything reads 1
so i assume im doing something wrong here. i also tried it from underneath the board and got the same thingComment

Re: Emerson 32" lcd, LC320EM82 S power issues(sony bravia??)
so i think my voltmeter is messing up i replaced the fuse in it and the battery and all i get is flashes of numbers and when i hold the two probes together it flashes -1 to .800 over and over on 2k ohmsComment

Re: Emerson 32" lcd, LC320EM82 S power issues(sony bravia??)
so since i cant get a good reading with my multi meter i decided to do what someone posted before with unplugging each inverter cept one and seeing what happens. so all of them light something up for a second then power off cept for one. im assuming thats the bad one. is this a good guess. also im in the market for a new multimeter( i posted in the testing equipment forum for help finding a good multi meter) any thoughts on my inverter test or a multi meter to look in to please let me know! thanks!Comment

Re: Emerson 32" lcd, LC320EM82 S power issues(sony bravia??)
putting the leads where you marked wont do any good.
Put the leads directly at the connector pins or each lamp( unplug a lamp, put the meter leads where the connector used to go on the two metal pins)
Yes thst meter isnt so good for a newbie. You want a more modern auto ranging meter.
by process of elimination, looks like you found it that way. Now you know which one is most likely giving you problems.
I seill need to buy an inverter for mine, i have been waiting untill payday lolComment

ok bill thanks for the help i will try that out. As far as the testing of resistance i think im doing it wrong or my multimeter is messed up. Im a noob when it comes to testing these things, i posted a pic of where i was sticking the probes im assuming thats the wrong place. would you mind circling it on a posted pic so i know im doing it right?Comment

Re: Emerson 32" lcd, LC320EM82 S power issues(sony bravia??)
ok so i tried it again with my multi meter and just get the 1. i also swapped around the ccfl and the cable that didnt light up before lit up when plugged in to a different transformer and the one that lit up before didnt when plugged in to the suspected bad one. so at this point im going to order that one transformer and replace it.Comment

Re: Emerson 32" lcd, LC320EM82 S power issues(sony bravia??)
good point making sure the ccfls work on another inverter bill, you saved my rear on that one..
testas: per your pm i believe this is the transformer you need
http://cgi.ebay.com/Element-TV-Inver...271#vi-content
However PLEASE post all the numbers off of your old transformer so #1 we can verify what is a correct replacement part and #2 so in the future other people have a reference as to what was originally found in these sets.Comment

if you measure at the two secondary terminals on each side of the secondary side yes sir, but from pin to pin at the lamp connector it reads like 4 meg ohms, weired, i know.
I just bought one. severach, when you see a payment from jerianne, thats my wife(+me lol)Last edited by cadillacman; 07-17-2011, 01:11 PM.Comment

Re: Emerson 32" lcd, LC320EM82 S power issues(sony bravia??)
Wanted to follow this up. THe suspect inverter transformer was replaced with a cross-referenced piece from our own member serverach(bought through ebay)
I should warn you guys the traces to these transformers are extremely easy to damage. I had to do a little trace work when it came time to install the new one due to two of them lifting on me during removal of the old piece. ( i used a solder sucker, looks like good desoldering braid is the only safe way to remove solder on these.)
The replacement
( http://cgi.ebay.com/Element-TV-Inver...item3cb9791e0f)
fits in perfectly and functions beautifully. THANK YOU for taking the time to cross reference those transformers, then offer them to the general public at a fair price. YOU ARE THE MAN. You might want to add this model to your known list of sets that use this inverter.
Heres some victory pics. Sorry for the krappy pic, im running it on composite at the moment, dont feel like going upstairs to rob the hdmi cord from my tv.
thanks again to everybody for your input on my posts. I really do appreciate it guys.Last edited by cadillacman; 07-20-2011, 10:45 PM.Comment

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by PantherDaveHi all!
I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅
I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!
I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

by PopsCapsI have a Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 that will not power on. The indicator flashes red 3 times.
I do not hear any sound and I cannot see any backlight.
I have tried disconnecting every cable on each board one at a time to see if anything changes.
The only change is when I disconnect AC-DET cable on the Power Supply board or on the other end if I unplug the CN7009 connection on the B-Board and try to power on the TV the indicator will stay on solid green until I power off.
My friend ordered another used power supply board but it is also doing the red indicator flash 3 times... -
by sam_sam_samI have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump
One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy... - Loading...
