I have a KDL-46XBR2 with no sound and no picture. I have no stand by light but green power on light does come on when you press on button and blue LED Sony light comes on also. I checked voltages and seem to have proper voltages all over board except no voltage on backlight and panel pins no where on the boards. Would this most likely be a main board problem or a power board problem? Any help would be appreciated.

"seem to have proper voltages all over board" So what Voltages do you have on the PS-ON, BL-ON, DIM pins? How about report the readings with ALL the pin names for us to see?

How about upload good clear pictures of the whole backside of the TV and the boards?

Yes sir Mr Budm , I will get more info for you all as soon as I can . This tv has about 6 boards but on the main power board pin that said back light there was no voltage and where i checked same wire on main board it had no voltage . Right beside the back light pin was the tv panel pin and it also had no voltage . I am new to working on tvs and I have never seen one with this many boards. Thank you for your response I will get somemore info .

This is a close up picture on pins that I measured voltage on power board the pin that says back light had 0 voltage the pin that had Panel had 0 voltage the pin that had Dimmer had like 3 or 4 volts

Im trying to understand if it is the Tcon board first before ordering any parts. Ive been repairing tvs as a Novice Hobby and I like understanding what is wrong and why and it helps me as I take on new issues figure out whats wrong. I am hoping understanding why I dont have power on those certain Pins will tell the story of what is wrong.

Pictures of the connector is too blurry to read the pin names.
So what exact DCV do you have on each pin of CN6202? No LED error codes either?
BTW, you can download service manual from ELEKTROTANYA.

Mr Budm . I will get you that exact information and post it tonight for you. I will try to get better clear photos . There is no LED error codes either . You hit on button tv clicks one time green LED lights up and Blueish SONY led in the center bottom of tv lights up . It all turns off properly when you press button to turn tv off. There is a tiny orange flashing constantly LED on main Digital board on rear of tv that I can see flashing only from rear underneath the cover for the Main Digital Board. I dont know if that helps tell you anything.

Mr Budm here is the voltage at the pins u requested with power button pressed and power on. Hopefully this will tell you something so you can help me

OK, so the main board is not sending the backlights on signal so there will be no panel detect signal.
How about the DCV of 7VDC, 11VDC on the connector CN4000? Do you have them? See G1 diagram I already provided.

Yes sir Mr Budm i have the 7 volts and 11 volts on each of those pins.

Do you get error code if the T-CON board is disconnected? Right now I expect to see error code due to to the no panel detect signal which should have trigger the error code, I wonder if the firmware is corrupted.

I will unhook the tconn board tonight and see if i get a error code. There is no flashing lights at all on front only a on green light and the sony light. And as i said theres a tiny orange led on main digital board where tconn connector leaves main board that is blinking non stop but can only be seen from back of tv

Mr Budm, I unhooked the tconn board connector from where it comes out of main board to tconn.I then turned the tv on and there is no error code light on front at all. the onlylights is the green on button and the Sony light. there is a small red standbye light on front but it does not come on when tv is turned off.

Its really weird how many things it could have been but was not and the Service Tec had the same concern about no error codes but its figured out through the process. It ends up being the TCONN board. Let me know what you think ? I did find theres a fuse on tconn board I could check but getting tconn board out will be a adventure.

Reading that links does not really give me 100% for sure if it is T-CON board or not.
That s why it is strange that there is no error when the T-CON is disconnected or the symptom did not change when the T-CON is disconnected.

Is this what you are getting as far as the Voltage is concerned?

Ok, just finished talking to Sony. Very helpful.

First he believes it's the TCON. You can't unplug it to see if the TV set starts up the backlights because it has to handshake with the BE2 board.

His process of analyzation is this --

Plug everthing back together.

1 Turn on the TV set

2 Look at the BE2 board and the QM board, see if you see a blinking LED that blinks about 1 blink per second. That tells you the BE2 and QM micros are active and running.

3 Go to the TCON's LVDS cable -- On the very End (pins 47 to 51) of the LVDS cable you SHOULD have 5 Volts. If not, then the BE2's 5 Volt line has been damaged and you have to replace it. (Lord I hope not)

4 Missing Voltage indicates the TCON is the source of failure for sure, replace it First before you install a BE2.

5 You can disconnect the LVDS cable from the TCON and see if you get those Heartbeat LEDs flashing at a one second rate, and simply test the LVDS cable for that 5 volts on one end or the other on the cable.

The Heartbeat LEDs tell us the BE2 and QM are running.
The 5 Volts on the LVDS cable (Pin 47 to 51) tell us the State of BE2's 5 Volt regulator
The TCON MUST be connected (handshake with the BE2) for the Backlight ON command to be activated.
The QM board can be disconnected if you suspect it's pulling down the clock or data bus, and if you give it 2 minutes the TV will time out, and turn on the picture.

Yes sir well if u have any other thoughts I will just wait on futher thoughts because I have no clue. Ive never seen anything like this tv plus its a 2006 model I only have $50 in it right now. I bought it to repair for my mother in law to have a tv. Obviously I dont want to spend hundreds swapping out boards as the guy in the article was instructed to do. Plus I love learning the things you instruct me on. It helps me think through the process .
