Element E4AA70R black screen shows picture

On this TV I got black screen with with picture.

Tested the LEDs and they work.

Had a hunch that this was similar to a ONN tv thread I found and wanted to post about this to possibly help someone else.

The capacitor by the LEDs is bulging, 450v 10 uf. I suspect this is the cause. Will post results after replacing the capacitor. You could just replace power board as well I assume.

Will post results when capacitor arrives

I know your post is a couple months old, but I just picked up this exact model yesterday. When powered on it flashes for a split second and you see the logo then it's black. I can still see the image after. Every time i power it on it will flash though, so I think it's a bad capacitor rather than backlights.

It can still be backlights, it'd be wise to test them first BUT. I have picked up 3-4 with the same board and it was ONLY the capacitor and not the light. Hope this helps 😁. Is the cap bulging at all?

I haven't taken the back off yet. It sounds like a defect if you've found it that many times, so hopefully that's all it is! This thing is massive so I'd rather not have to change backlights in it. I need to order some feet for it, and the cover? that the IR sensor sits in is missing, so it just hangs out of the bottom. Don't know if I'd be lucky enough to find a replacement one of those though.

Could you actually take a picture of that cover so I know what it looks like? I'm going to email Element and see if replacements are available. I'm thinking someone opened up the back and forgot to put it back in place. I think the sensor board clips in it and then it slips in the frame

I don't have this TV any more, I fix and flip them. I'm willing to bet that is your problem though. I bought a 10 pack of them on Amazon for like 8$ and was here in 2 days

I'm hoping that's all it is!

I got an email back from Element and they said they don't sell parts directly, they sell through SJ and Amazon etc. I need a part number for that cover, not a redirect 🤦🏻

There it is! Just like yours was. I'm gonna order one now. I also found the power button/or sensor assembly on eBay for $12 so I'll order that too.

Don't even know what part your talking about. No pictures.

Edit, yup that's a easy peesy repair now.

Maybe contact those sellers of parts for this model on ebay and ask them if they have that particular part.

I just ordered it. It's the button board, cable, and the cover it sits in. I might have to glue it to the bottom though because it looks like someone broke the clips it attached too

Replaced the capacitor and it's working! This one was difficult because the old capacitor somehow ruined the pad, so I had to scrape the trace and attach the solder to that.

Why are you using poor quality caps when quality ones would extend the life of your repair ?

I've used cheap brands for years and never had an issue. The way I see it something else will likely fail before the cheap caps (especially in a LCD). If it were a vintage stereo receiver then better caps would be warranted for sure.

It's the garbage cap that failed and it's likely to be the garbage cap in the future. The price between quality and garbage is negligible. You have an opportunity to extend the life greatly spending a few cents more.
