Some cheap chinese power supplies are doomed, as the caps are simply too small - physically and electrically, to last. It has little to do with the make/brand of the cap, more to do with the ripple/ESR heating.
I would look at the ripple current spec. - here it's quite high for most caps, especially at 2.6A output split over 2x1,000uF+220uF low-profile parts.
Sometimes I add an extra bulk capacitance on the output when I need long life.

      Panasonic EEU-FR1C102 1,000uF 16V D=10mm H=16mm 1.79A ripple 8,000hrs

P.S. I prefer a "POPcorn" capacitor brand over "BAcon" brand. If you smell popcorn, it's over

I'm not sure how this thread is still alive.
I already have an order ready to be placed.
This thread is clinging onto life by a thread.

One idea i had was to take a bunch of chinese capacitors and put them on a frying pan and watch them pop like popcorn.

Frying pan caps, that's a new one. Make a video. I'll send you a fuckton of shit caps if you want.

I know it's been a year since i made this but i finally got around to fixing this stupid thing and it works. (even when it's under full load)
              Photo of the new caps....

I removed as much of the cheap gule as i could and i'm currently waiting for some silicone glue to cure.
The silicone glue is made for electronics and i used it on a different power supply and it did not do any harm.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                Assuming...

Panasonic switching power supply daughter board has two 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors which I do not keep in stock
                by sam_sam_sam
I did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow

This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board

                After all of...

Power supply Manson NTP-5561 (5661) LCD controller dead - PIC18F87K90 HEX dump required
                by Andreas_de
                Hello!

i got a damaged Manson NTP-5561 (60V, 1,6A DC output) and and the main issue is that the controler IC for the LCD display has a short. The controler IC PIC18F87K90 is mounted on the back of the back of the LCD. Vss-Vdd = 3 Ohm. The 5V and 3,3V power line was killed as well, but that is not a problem. A new LDO 3,3V and 5V 7805 is already ordered.
Replacing the PIC18F87K90 is necessary but that makes no sense without having the HEX dump of the new controler.

Does anybody have such a power supply and could do a HEX dump of the Flash and EEPROM memory?

Samsung QE 75 Q 7 FGMTZG Power Supply dead
                by kevin_allein
Hi, have this Samsung QE 75 Q 7 FGMTZG TV with no function. First analysis shows the power supply board is dead and fuse blown. Power Supply has the number BN94-11439A. I did short circuit test transistor and diodes and those do not appear to have shorts. I must admit I did not look at every single data sheet.
In the TV was some black dust residue, so probably one of the electrolytic caps blew, but they do not show short either.

Does anyone have schematics for that board ?
Any good tip, what could be the issue ?

Eufy Floodlight Cam 2 Pro Dead. Power Supply issue...
                by KYBOSH
I have a floodlight-security camera that recently died on me.

its hardwired to 115v po115v outlet. One evening it simply died. After some troubleshooting (ensuring it had power and ensuring the electronics were actually functional by supplying 5v via usb port) i realized the power supply must be the issue. The supply was noticably warm to the touch even though it was not powering anything.

Trying to understand what i was up against i went looking for others with similar issues and anyone who might have attempted a repair. While a few ppl have had the...
