Alternative to Varistor UEI 13SP 2R5

Someone know an good alternative keeping same values for this Surge Protection:

    http://www.uei.com.tw/psp.pdf

I will order some components on mouse.com, but I am not sure about wich one should be similar to UEI 13SP 2R5 to order together, paying only one delivery fee.

In the documentation of this varistor sounds like variable since does not have an Voltage Info.

    Thanks in advice.

It is NTC (INrush Current limiter) per your spec.
    Varistor is for Surge protection.
So what are you looking for? NTC or Varistor (MOV)
The closest NTC one at MOUSER:

      Thanks for the reply budm!!!

I am looking for an backup compatible to replacement, since mouser does not work with UEI brand.

Reading the UEI pdf was saying the third field with SP is a Surge Protection, example:

      N 2 0 S P 0 0 5 - 5
      (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) (7)

      (1) NTC. ( Negative Temperature Coefficient )

      (2) Nominal Diameter :
      08:8mm10:10mm
      13:13mm15:15mm
      20:20mm

      (3) SP : Surge Protection

      (4) Resistance of 25°C
      0R7: 0.7 Ω 1R3: 1.3 Ω
      2R5: 2.5 Ω 003~008: 3~8 Ω
      120: 120 Ω 010~080: 10~80 Ω

      (5) Tolerance of Resistance
      L: ± 15%
      M: ± 20%

      (6)Lead free(ROHS)

      (7)Forming Type (Kink)

Because I live in Brazil with high taxes, I will order everything of my power supply to keep as backup paying only one fee, so, at this moment I am studying alternatives for products not found at mouser.

Your advice seems be perfect, my dead powersupply is auto-volt (no switch to 110V or 220V) and your link seems have the range of 120 VAC to 240 VAC.

I have one more question, the UEI on specification says works fine on Operating temperature range between -40 ~ + 200 (N13SP2R5 - 5), shoud I worry about this?

All capacitors inside of the power supply have 105 degree max operating range.

I have noticed the Amperage differ too, so using your reference (5A), I have increased 1A (6A), this one should be fine right?

PS.: I am studying now about whats the differ between Varistor and INrush Current limiter, did not know abou this one, thanks for point me.

How is the original device is connected in the circuit? We want to verify its function in the circuit.
5A is the closest I found for 13mm dia. it should be fine.

I will post some images, is missing some components because I am testing on multimeter one by one.

NTC (INrush Current limiter) or PS:

          The Circuit viewing from Bottom:

This is a Power Supply from HP 8000 Elite SFF Auto 110V or 220V 240Watts 90 or 80% Efficiency, I do not remember now

OK, it is NTC for inrush current limiting, the one on MOUSER is fine to use.
BTW, was the old one burnt up?

Re: Alternative to Varistor UEI 13SP 2R5

This is the only one NTC and seems be working fine.

I got a leaked capacitor of Elite 420V 120 uf 105 degree C, and because this some components died too like the diode T2D 98 and some resistors.

The other components seems fine using multimeter to test them.

I will do an full recap on this power supply, the delivery fee to Brazil from Mouser is US$ 35,00 , the law here in Brazil says everything under US$ 50,00 is tax free, but for this value its included all costs, products + delivery fees.

So I have around US$ 14,99 of components to get, from this limit all recap will cost me around US$ 10,00 (5k hours and some 2K hours - keeping same size from original in the power supply), then I am reading about what is supposed mostly weak and probably ready to give trouble to purchase as backup on this order, do you have any advice?

All resistor I will buy here since I like the old version with colored rings and on Mouser mostly of same spec of this power supply are labeled by letters instead the colored rings.

For the Caly Film Capacitor seems Mouser does not work with brand, probably I will get on ebay those.

About the NTC on Mouser shoud I use the 5A or 6A?

'About the NTC on Mouser should I use the 5A or 6A?' There is no 6A version for 13mm and 2.5 Ohms that I can find in Mouser catalog.
If the 15mm will fit the board that will be fine.

Re: Alternative to Varistor UEI 13SP 2R5

OK, I need help with Varistors. I am just confused about the information on the datasheets. I have 2 situations.

First is I want to upgrade power boards by adding some varistors to help protect against power surges, I do realize they must be before the fuse.

Second is I have been taking the LEDs from TVs and making over head lights with them. I have had some burn out and it puzzled me for a while but then I realized if I get a power surge the maximum 3VDC per LED will be exceeded and the LEDs would burn out. So I have to add something to prevent the voltage from exceeding 120 volts. I can make the LED lights with 41 LEDs and that would give a maximum voltage of 123V so I can reconfigure the LEDs to work with the varistor, just which one do I need?

I bought some varistors and I think I may got the wrong size. 10D151K, I thought these were to stop anything over 150 VAC but after looking at a Datasheet I think it says 95 VAC is the max. So I am confused and need some help understanding the information and picking the correct varistors. Thank you.
