Re: PSU got negative output!! help

The problem of his power supply is the Power Good (PG) signal line (Grey color). It reads low instead of 5V. All other outputs are fine. Perhaps due to the supervisory IC or comparator problem...

He he funny on 2 out of the 3 pics that extra port is cut out .

Thats why I don't use cheap multimeters.

Any meter I own must have autoscale at a minimum.

Aw Brain you beat me to the diagnosis .

Indeed the mobo won't attempt to power up the supply if the power good generator doesn't send out its 5 volts.

If all of the PSUs outputs are within range then replace the power good IC if you want to fix it.

Sometimes these ICs malfunction and prevent the PSU from coming on when connected to a mobo.

I have had wall wart switchers with dead PWM controllers after checking the FETs and output rectifiers for shorts I replaced the PWM IC and the PSU came back to life.

So ICs can die without being brought under by another component in the circuit.

the psu in the pic is something i would crush for hand exercise.
at least you got a fireworks show without losing a board or worse.

Onkyo HT-R390 no sound output, video output ok
                  by FrancescoV
                  Good morning everyone,
I'm trying to repair an onkyo ht-r390 that has no sound output, despite the volume being at maximum, the rest seems to work; the video output signal (coming from an hdmi input) is present, but the audio is absent. Similar situation if I send an audio signal from any input I have no output.

The firmware reported is the following:
                  M:1.00/11107BLP
                  D:?.??/????????
                  O:1.00/11107AL

The DSP firmware given the question marks seems corrupt.

On the BCHDM-0678 - 25140678 - QPWBCHDM0678A0 board the chip that usually seems...

                  by sam_sam_sam
I have bought this Zener Diode for this project what size and wattage resistor value do I need to use to get near 50 watt output
I bought this from an eBay seller but unfortunately they only had one

I bought three from Vetco Electronics these are Sylvania ECG5185A 9.1@10w A to Stud what size and watt resistor do I need to use to get near 10 watt output
I bought three of from them to also make battery packs with this output power limit in mind

I want to use this battery pack and turn it into a 9.1 output battery pack output to eliminate using 9 volt battery...

PS5 digital / No Power / No Beep / Good power supply
                  by MisterAIL
                  Hi everyone,

Brought a non functionnal PS5. Apparently only a bad PSU...
                  No beep, nothing.

After some tests i found this :
                  - PSU is fine (12 volts stable)
                  - 12 volts line is shorted
                  - DA9065 was fried, F7003 also => Replaced both of them, short is gone on 12 volts line, no dead short anywhere else.
                  - By the way, nothing change. No signal, no power, no beep.

Mesuring all rails with my workbench psu (12 volts input)
                  - 0.00 amp drawing
                  - 12 volts, 5 volts, 2 volts, 1,15 volts are presents (suppose new DA9065 do is...

Corsair CX750M [Model 75-002019] - burned output toroid inductor
                  by momaka
Looks like I may need a little help from the PSU experts (or anyone really! ) I have a Corsair CX750M (Model 75-002019) that I picked up for free about 4 years ago. This is the PSU:

So here’s what’s strange about this one: it appears to work normally (normal output voltages) and any PC is stable with it. However, after a while (typically 10-20 minutes, but time can vary depending on the load), there is a sweetish smell of burned magnet wire insulation emanating from the PSU. Upon opening the PSU after this happened (many times), I was able to confirm...

Dual output power supply 5 and 12 volts (no output)
                  by falcontech
                  Hello everyone
I have a problem with this dual output power supply, I have nothing at the output, I did the classic tests and replaced some components such as the mosfet that was shorted, a couple of resistors burnt following the short of the mosfet, the integrated td3843 which in turn it gave me a short between the ground and the output (the IC is under the big capacitor) I replaced the capacitors on the secondary for safety, the big capacitor looks good by testing it, when I power the big capacitor I have 320 volts , I got stuck because I can't understand what the problem is, a hand would...
