Led lamp - won't work in cold enviroment

Have this led lamp that works perfect fine in room temperature but wont light up outside in cold winter.

Is this because of the startup capacitor is not made for cold enviroments ? startup cap are su'scon - see picture second last picture.

you probably answered your own question.
the problem is electrolytics hate cold.
you may have to increase the value.

Thanks for your answer - Are both the 47uF 50V and the 33uF 50V caps considered startup caps ?

I got a few pictures of the underside - looks like the 8 pin so on the primary side is marked F52966 but I can't be sure.

ESR goes up when temperature goes down, and ESR goes down when temperature goes up.
Caps are cheap, I would just recap it with good caps.
There are two small caps (start/run caps) in the primary side close to Q1.

I guess average at -2C to -5C, sometimes around 7.

One of the lamps was dead at -1C or perhaps -2C.

yea, your gonna have problems i think.
maybe you can use something other than electrolytics.

that only slows temperature differences, it will probably equalise outdoors even with insulation.

The PSU might produce enought heat that it could be worth a try anyway.

They are normally stored in cold car or cold storage containers so I guess insulating them wont work.
I did have a look at fm datasheet and see they are rated for -40 to +105, I will try to recap one of the laps to see if cold start behavior changes.

you should probably do a FULL recap, because if the others dont work, you could damage the led.

Me and a friend found 15 lamps in a retailers dump, they all look pretty brand new with almost no scratches or other damages. All these lamps more or less have the same cold start problem but work perfectly fine indoors.

Yes, I will do a full recap on one of the lamps to see if it helps - the other lamps are not really in use.

Of all laps we found one one of them had a electric failure but it was also the only lamp that had a different revision board and also a different led driver.

Some sort of ceramic capacitor might help with the high ESR at low temp problem.

Those suscons seem like SK, general purpose. Just use quality low-ESR caps, the ESR should be than similar to warm SKs even while being cold.

always going to be a problem regulating temps in outdoor equipment.
                                        unless you make cold-weather & hot-weather versions.

Hello, I have an "ASUS ROG Strix G713QR" laptop, and for approx. 3 months I have the following problems:

                                          1. Laptop keyboard doesn't work
                                          2. The backlight on the laptop keyboard doesn't work
                                          3. The x2 side LEDs (red) on the laptop don't work

The power button works, the touchpad works, and all the USB, HDMI, Ethernet, etc. ports work.

I already tried to reinstall all the drivers and reinstall Windows. So I don't know what to try anymore that is software-related.

But I am strongly aiming that it is somehow a BIOS-related problem,...

hello everyone, I have a particular problem with this lenovo ideapad 330s-15ikb. I had to replace the motherboard due to liquid damage, after replacing it I noticed that some letters on the keyboard do not work. So I bought a new keyboard and now all the keys work except the numeric keypad area. In practice the num lock key LED always remains on and the numbers do not work. Has anything like this ever happened to you? I also tried changing the keyboard again but the same defect remains on the numeric keypad.

I tried updating the bios but the problem remains

                                          Hi All.

Does anyone have any reference materials or something I can use to try troubleshooting a BenQ TH681? Google unfortunately has turned up zip. I did find a service manual for a W series BenQ but that is pretty much useless, it's more a glorified user manual. A list of voltages would be great as I suspect my mainboard is faulty, the colour wheel voltage is not dipping like it should.

The one I am troubleshooting now was originally overheating after a lamp replacement. It originally would take 2 minutes or so for it to shut off and blink the temp and lamp lights...

I just bought a used one for a decent price for a used device it prints very nicely and clean and clearly so I am not going to complain about it but I would like to get it working again anyone have any suggestions on how to repair this back light

If I can not get the controller to work properly then I will probably have an external power supply for the backlight because it is difficult to see the screen without out it
