SSD MacBook Pro 2015 not recognized and gets hot
Hi everyone, a customer brought me an original Apple SSD (mz-jpv2560/0a4) from a 2015 MacBook Pro to ask me to recover the data. He told me that the computer was taken to the Apple center but that there was a problem with the motherboard and therefore it could not be repaired....
However they removed the SSD so for try to recover data
I tried to insert this SSD into another 2014 MacBook Pro that I had but the SSD could not be seen either from the recovery or from an operating system started from USB (BigSur or El Capitan)
I also tried with a USB adapter but nothing
I also...Last edited by resistor83; 12-10-2023, 04:18 AM.

Re: Macbook pro 15" 820-2915-B 2011 A1286 boot on but black screen
I have a working screen that I tried but it won't turn on so it can't be the display/cable
However, in the MacBooks that I have repaired over the years, when the video card was broken, either the operating system started with various lines on the screen or the screen was black/white but the system did not start in the worst cases. It has never happened to me that the operating system started up and the screen was completely turned off due to the video cardLast edited by resistor83; 09-15-2023, 01:04 PM.

Macbook pro 15" 820-2915-B 2011 A1286 boot on but black screen
Hi everyone, I have this 2011 MacBook Pro 15" model 820-2915-B which has a problem.
I turn it on, the startup sound is heard but the screen doesn't turn on, not even the backlight. The keyboard lights up after a while and the capslock works. If I press any key I can hear sounds as if the system is booting.
I thought it was a screen problem but after changing it the problem remains.
What could I do?

Re: Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G power on but black screen
well, maybe i found the problem. As I wrote a few posts back, there are no voltages on VCC_GT and therefore also on the PL906 coil
By measuring the PQ906 chip I discovered that pin 2 has 19v while pin 1 has 0v
The same chip (PQ1202 and PQ1201) is also present in the area of the dedicated video card and measures them 1,12v
Do you think I should change PQ906?...

Re: Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G power on but black screen
I read on some forum that for UMA conversion you have to move RC134 to RC133
I tried to move it but the problem is still there, the only thing is the absorption from 0.50A drops to 0.42. I guess because the video card is actually disabled

Re: Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G power on but black screen
I moved the resistors but I still don't see anything on the screen, I only noticed that the slight flashes are gone, only one when I press the power button
can i do some other measurements?Last edited by resistor83; 03-18-2023, 10:28 AM.
