    Synchronous motor

My daughter has given me a project as her husband seems to have messed things up. The project is a Christmas tree! stand. ie:- one that the light on it continually turn colour by means of. A 12v light, A 12v 6a synchronous motor with a coloured disk on top that spins & changes the light's colouring
The problem is her husband has been messing with the wiring & I need to
reconnect every thing but using copper strip board but I need a diagram to work to. On The original board there is 4 x 400 diodes 1 x 470 capacitor in the circuit. the power is 240-12v ac adaptor. The contents are 1 x 12v led light ,1 x 12v d fan for cooling & 1 x TYC-40 12v 6a 1-2w 50/60 Hz synchronous motor

I don't know if the following drawing helps

Any help would be very welcome

    Re: Synchronous motor

The motor wire with ??? should go to the 12V LIVE, another wire of the motor is already connected to the 12NEUTRAL through the Thermal fuse per your drawing.

          Re: Synchronous motor

          Did the lights/fan come on?

Just checking it has a 12vAC adapter and is a 12vAC motor

Does the motor work if you just connect it direct to the power supply

Is the thermal fuse resettable - check it is reset

            Re: Synchronous motor

New drawing is not right, D3 Cathode should be connected to the Cathode of D1 not D2.
Do you get 12VAC at the motor lead wires? if you do, then the motor is bad. Thermal fuse is OK?

Slight mistake on previous see amended diagram also the adaptor is 240-12dc

The fuse is tested okay as well as diodes & capacitor

"240-12dc"??? I thought you have indicated that it is 12VAC, your 12VAC motor will not run on DC, the windings will get hot if it has low DCR when you feed DC to the motor.

                  Re: Synchronous motor

As I said better check if the motor is AC or DC

I have made the same mistake - not actually trying to power it but got a christmas tree
off freecycle then had to buy an AC adapter - never even thought about 12v not being DC
