There are models of that switch with 5.0V - 2.5A psus, and 3.3V 2.5A psus. Please, take a photo of the psu from above, also a good photo of the board of the switch.

Try changing those two output caps. Also, the external connector of the psu seems broken ( its shield is out in the 4th picture ). Also, it seems a blob of solder could be causing a short to the filtering coil in same 4th picture.

Fuse tested OK? Try heating the 2 small startup/running capscaps (One is C6, anther one I cannot see the designator) with hair dryer to see if it will start up.
According to the user manual, this D-link consumes about 8.5 Watts of power.

So it is not a big power supply.

Preferably both, but I was talking about the PSU.

                  Does the fuse measure good?

Could you read us the markings on IC1?

How can I be sure that my EC chip is dead?
                    by double_DD
                    Hi all,

As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?

I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.

Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. There is a 3V3 on a keyboard...

A2991 Logic Board issue, 20volts 0 amps help!
                    by Stephen
Customer plugged in samsung monitor into the board and used it as a power supply, killed UG800 and UG400. I replaced those two with an exact donor board we had In stock and working, board pulls 5volts and then gets like 2.89 amps on the left side. The singular port is the port that failed. Used a perfectly working chips from donor (board was locked) Now I only get 5volts 0 amps on that power and then 20volts 0 amps on the two left side ports, I checked for DFU and nope nothing, computer not turning on. No shorts present anymore. I am confused as I used the exact components from an identical...

KingWin ABT-650MM 650 Watt ATX PSU [PCB: SW8835REV:A]
                    by momaka
For today's thread, I have a KingWin ABT-650MM ATX PSU. Official web page with the PSU specs is still up and can be found here:
                    http://www.rmac.kingwin.com/products.../abt_650MM.asp

I just can't help it when I see a broken / for parts PSU on eBay that's listed for cheap and looks at least somewhat interesting. Well, OK, I won't lie – on the outside, this PSU looks anything but interesting. It's a plain gray box with colorful “spaghetti cables”.

What mostly drew me into buying it is its 2x PCI-E power connectors...
