    voltage rails from speedfan

    Hi guys,

    I checked the 3 rails from my PSU by a DMM.
    They were OK. I ran 3Dmark 05 & saw the values
    from the chart of speedfan.
    The voltages varied between :
    Vcore : 1.62 to 1.57
    +3.3v : 3.26 to 3.21
    +5v : 4.92 to 4.89
    +12v : 11.5 to 11.37 .

    The voltage fluctuations are 50mv, 50mv, 30mv and 130mv
    respectively.

    The 12v rail was at 12.4V from a DMM reading while it
    shown by speedfan was 11.4v .
    I know software readings are not accurate
    but can you guys tell me if the voltage chart of speedfan
    can be trusted ?

    From some PSU sites, I saw they quote their PSUs
    have ripple & noise on different rails, e.g.,
    50mv ripple on 3.3v & 5v and 120mv
    on 12v , 100mv noise on 3.3v & 5v and 200mv on 12v.
    In my case, what are the ripple voltages and noise on
    different rails?

      nope trust in dmm readings under load. a clamp meter is useful.

          I just want to see the ripple & noise of the rails under load.
          I wish I could have a CRO to see them clearly!
          Can u show me a picture of the clamp meter you mentioned?

              Heh... this is where I'm allowed to step in and brag about my Fluke 337

              It's just perfect for measuring current draw on your various rails - or the AC input for that matter. For assessing ripple or noise, of course, you will need an oscilloscope.

              As for speedfan - it's a very useful piece of software, particularly for PWM/fan regulation, but any voltage measurements are going to be entirely dependent on your motherboard's sensors - which are rarely reliable enough to give anything more than a very rough indication of input voltage.

                  Speedfan is WAY off one one of my ASUS boards, but close on others, so even same mfrs can not be accurate.

                      Have a Macbook A2179 with liquid damage. Customer showed it some shop which has done an ultrasonic cleaning of the board.
                      The board pulls 0V but doesnt turn on. No Fan SPIN. NOT IN DFU.

                      I checked the Power Sequences below and found this -


                      Once a valid external power source (Charger or battery) is connected, the following rails will come online.
                      PPBUS_G3H: Normal voltage is ~12.6v on the charger with the battery disconnected. Produced from the ISL9240 (U7000, which uses PPDCIN_G3H as its VIN.
                      PP3v3_G3H_RTC: Normal voltage is ~3.3v. Produced...

                      I have some mains toroid transformer220v/12v, and thinking to add a few one-two turns fat coil in parallel, like in picture. Red are working windings, purple (top and bottom) is rails who connect all low voltage windings.

                      Question is, how to connect that device to be as much more efficient in spot welder operation to distribute and pulls currents to all winding equaly, minimalize voltage drop?

                      output on half E-F
                      output on C-B
                      connect A-B and C-D, output on A-F
                      otherwise?...

                      VCCIO voltage ok
                      VCCSA Voltage OK
                      VCCPLL Voltage OK

                      Hi Everyone, I am new to this forum. I have a Panasonic LED TV which doesnt turn on and is blinking 4 times repeatedly when I turn on the switch. The TV does not respond to the remote control so I had to turn on using the physical switch on the side of the TV. When I turn on the switch the 4 x blinking starts and repeat itself until I turn off the TV. There is a black screen. I turned off the light in the room to check the panel and I think there is no backlight as far as I can tell.

                      I found two capacitors on the board and one of the leads on one capacitor had bad soldering joint and the other joint connections not much better and there were several soldering joints that way to much flux around the joint redid several of them

                      The capacitors were a non brand that I did not recognize they got replaced and now it does not oscillating between relay but what concerns me a little bit is when the voltage is a little bit low the output voltage is around 130 volts and then drops down to 115 volts this happens around 105 to 108 volts if remember correctly
