Trip light 2400 watt line conditioner bought used issue with low voltage oscillation going on between relays

I found two capacitors on the board and one of the leads on one capacitor had bad soldering joint and the other joint connections not much better and there were several soldering joints that way to much flux around the joint redid several of them

The capacitors were a non brand that I did not recognize they got replaced and now it does not oscillating between relay but what concerns me a little bit is when the voltage is a little bit low the output voltage is around 130 volts and then drops down to 115 volts this happens around 105 to 108 volts if remember correctly

Now the eBay seller had in the description that the high voltage light was lighting that was the reason I checked it on my auto transformer and slowly brought up the voltage so I could see what the seller was talking about I did not see the high voltage light coming on until it reached around 130 volts then came on at this voltage but what I did find when checking it was that when the voltage was very low it was not working correctly which I did fix with the two new capacitors and re-soldering some of soldering joints that looked questionable

I will take some pictures if needed but to put this circuit board in is a pain in the neck because the connection wire are heavy gauge wire and they are barely long enough to begin with and a lot of them plug into the three relays

I have repaired several of the lower wattage versions which are more a pain in the neck to do than this one was

Well I have had the Trip Lite line conditioner plugged in since this afternoon and have had no issues with so as far as I am concerned it has been successfully been repaired and now it is in service on one computer and monitor battery backup and a second computer in standby mode for now I still have to get the computer drivers installed and hook up a monitor and mouse and keyboard

With this amount of load on it the metal enclosure is just barely warm which is very good for what it is powering

The eBay seller gave me a partial refund because of the issues that I had with this line conditioner which I was not expecting this from them but welcomed in any case it was now closer to what I would have wanted to buy it for if I knew exactly what was wrong with it but the electrical problems was only half of the issue the rest of was that the USPS service was not kind to this package either it was handled not very well because one side of the package was ripped open and the enclosure on one side was bent so the cover was not fitting properly but after some pre swat ion I was able to get it back into shape and now the cover fits pretty good now

Now with the partial refund I have bought another line conditioner but this one is a 1800 watt one and is supposedly suppose to work with out any issues but it will get recapped in any event just for good measure

Yes I do from time to time buy used not working devices and sometimes hope that I can get them to work properly and I am able to repair them about 75% time I am able to fix them

Yesterday it was so HOT late in the afternoon ( 4 pm ) that the power company was having issues with keeping the line voltage stable and it was also lower than normal but not enough to consider it low voltage brown out but it was varying about 3 or 4 volts which you could see on the voltage monitor on the battery backup and it was about 5 volts lower than normal but around 9 pm last night it was back to normal

too many people running aircon instead of opening a window and using a fan.

that and 100year old power infrastructure that only gets replaced as it breaks!
i'm still amazed with all the "codes" and other communist fuckery that your electrical standards are so low.
insulation-displacement connections and "wire-nuts" are just the start of what i would ban!
oh yes - and those 2phase 240v connectors you use in your basement - total shit!

First of all you can keep your windows open at night and fall asleep because you do not know who is going to try to come in that is not welcome second of all the fans that they make now they should be ashamed of themselves saying that they have quality fans for sale third of all when the night time temperature is 70*F and high humidity this a joke as well

At my house in what they call winter here is a joke as well you might have 10 days where the temperature is less than 35*F if you are lucky now granted the humidity is a lot lower and you do not need air conditioning as much as you would need in the summer time there are times in the winter time that the air conditioning hardly turns on for days at a time or not at all for weeks at a time

Here are some pictures of the line conditioner 1800 watt which is very similar to 2400 watt version one

The 1800 watt line conditioner is powering both battery backups recapped the controller board I also had re-solder the LED lights because the soldering joint pins became some of them were loose

Well I setup my cable television monitor / computer monitor that I use an HDMI switcher
The computer and HDMI switcher and monitor on one battery backup and the cable box and clock on a second battery backup which the power supply current gauge shows about the same load on each battery backup

I originally had the computer in our office but did some remodeling of furniture and I was not really using the computer very much because of where it was that is the reason for getting a higher wattage line conditioner to handle two battery backups and to the current load from being to high on one battery backup and having a very short run and when I had the computer in the office I did not have a line conditioner

I have had the computer and the cable box and monitor and two battery backups and clock and HDMI switcher on this line conditioner for several hours now and it is room temperature which I am very pleased with it because the other line conditioner had issues one it rather warm and the line fault was on the two different battery backup so I have to open this line conditioner to see if I can figure out what is wrong with it this one was bought a few years ago used it work okay for a couple years with out issues but now it is a different story

I will make a different post for this line conditioner because it is a different version of the Trip Lite brand which is the harder version to remove the controller board

This afternoon at 4:00pm it is very hot again this weekend and when the air conditioner turn ON the battery backups beep once because of a momentary voltage sag which really only happens late in the afternoon the rest of the day it does not do this

Now being on for 6 hours or so the enclosure of the line conditioner is only slightly warm to the touch which does not surprise me because any type of transformer will get some what warm to the touch

Well the power company here was having issues last night early in the morning around 3:30 AM battery backup going crazy switching between two taps of auto transformer and the battery backup meter was fluctuating by at least 3 to 5 volts for at least several minutes but earlier in the day around midafternoon the lights were dimming in a cycling situation for a couple of hours off and on

Yea I know all of the power customers running air conditioners like there is no tomorrow including me as well
