    Yes, I will...

fresh from ratdude's stack of old PSUs is a hipro made dell unit, 250W. He mentioned needing a PSU and i searched the stack and found a winner.

    some specs:

    dell hp-p2507f3cp
    5v 22A
    3.3v 18A
    5vsb 2A
    +12v 14A
    -12v 1A
    250W
    teapo caps

    attached pics.

has plenty of space for banana jacks and whatnot...

WLG, good luck on the project! Keep us posted!

That is a good power supply. I have the non-PFC version waiting to be recapped.

I would like to see someone build a real bench power supply, like a 0-30V power supply with current limiting.

I made one, it was even split, up to +/-60v, but had some issues with the feedback loop (interference). Will probably rebuild it next year.

The classic way - a shunt resistor in the positive rail feeding into the second error amp of the TL494.

That's almost exactly (if not exactly) the same PSU I have - see this thread:

It's a great PSU, I use it to test all sorts of computers - both 5v and 12v heavy. The voltage regulation is always dead-spot on, too. Too nice for a bench PSU, IMO. (although if you do want a reliable bench PSU with stable voltages, there's probably nothing better than this).

The Adda sleeve bearing fan in mine was still full of oil when I opened it, but the fan control thermistor had fallen out of its clip so the fan didn't spin at all. If that didn't happen, I wouldn't have to recap it.

the fan spun, it was just giving the evil dead bearing noise.

Dying fan is no problem for me btw, I don't trust Adda and I was going to replace it anyway.

                          that would be my suggestion.

i was speaking about another psu i have at my old house (I have a bunch of 250W units there still). the unit I will send's fan is in working, non-noisy condition, but you never know... after all, there are few things worse than a psu getting by a bad fan.

UCSD throws away so many early 2000's Dells right now that I have a fairly decent supply of 80mm NMB fans

Hi, i have an ASUS PRIME Z590M-PLUS board, which had an shorted Z590 chipset. I have succesfully exchanged the chipset to a factory new one, however there is a serious problem with the Intel Management Engine (later on: ME) not beeing activated after the chipset device replacement.

For lower chipset families (on ASUS boards) it worked to program the oldest bios version into the SPI rom, and the bios had activated the Management Engine itself by default - there was a message on the screen prior booting - "BIOS is updating Management Engine ..... . Do not shut down to prevent...

Hi all, I just need to know that, can i use SMPS type power supply to test and short circuit detection on a laptop motherboard?
I saw 95% of repair guys are using only Linear bench power supply. linear bench power supply is pricy, thats why i planned to get one SMPS supply.

i know that in linear power supply the noise will be very low comparing to SMPS supply....

Hello. Ive got problem with Dell Latitude 3520. After power on, no display and fan goes crazy. Standard job, I exported a clean bios from update via pfs extract.

                              Steps i done and results:

I exported a clean bios from update file via pfs extract.

                              1. Build clean bios with clean ME, PMC, PCH in flash image tool.
                              Result: Dead

                              2. Build clean bios with no changes in ME, new PMC, PCH
                              Result: Dead

                              3. Build old bios with clean ME, new PMC, PCH
                              Result: The same
