    Oh hec, hec 250srt

    http://hecgroupusa.com/products/swit...atx/hec250srt/

i just bought one of these power supplies off ebay to replace my HEC 200SRT which only has a 60mm fan, the newer HEC has a 80mm a sata connector and 24pin which is nice as the old 200 had none.

anyways i put it in my computer and hit the power and nothing, it was making the light on the motherboard light up. I open it up and see a bulging and leaking CapXon 2200uf 6.3v, now keep in mind ive never replaced the caps in anything. so after fumbling around i took a Nichicon or united chemicom not sure of the brand but it said LXZ 2200uf 10v, took it off a old slot A athlon board, put it in and it fires right up. bios shows all rails within decent spec. anyways is that a decent capacitor to use in a power supply?

That blue cap is a Nippon Chemi-con, not Nichicon.
I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

What capacitor should I purchase for Power Supply of obsolete game consoles?
            by chth96
            hello.

I have Sega Saturn and 5 years ago, I recapped all of capacitor in the Power supply, Because At that time, It frequently freezed black screen after SEGA logo displayed.

It hardly ever freezed after I finished to recap all of caps in the power supply.

But Yesterday, It did not show any screen at all and its green power LED constantly blinked.

To my surprise I found that all of two NXH 10v 2200uf capacitors in the secondary area of Power supply have been bulged and It measured 57 mF and 75 mF capacitance.

            It seems that quality...

Recommend a decent Multimeter on the cheap
            by aaronkatrini
            Hi all,

I was looking to upgrade my main multimeter (Asita MD591) with something that has more features. I'll use it mostly for board diagnostic and diy repairs. I've been eyeing out many of those multi-function ones from Aliexpress but can't seem to make my mind up. Here are the features that I'm looking after:

            - Autorange
            - DC volts up to 30V
            - Accurate Resistance
            - Diode test (Beep mode)
            - Frequency up to 200MHz
            - Capacitanze up to 5000uF
            - as cheap as possible

Other functions are not needed but those which are needed...

I replaced one Xbox 360 16v 1500uF Cap with 25v 2200uF what issues will it cause?
            by Rotsinger
So the 16v 1500uF capacitor C9B1 near the power connector on the back of a Phat started leaking. Haven't been able to find the right cap, so I replaced it with a larger 25v 2200uF capacitor a couple weeks ago and everything is working fine since then. I didn't replace the other six 16v caps, they were all good.

When putting the fan plastic cover back I remember there were maybe 2-3 mm of clearance on top of it and 1-2 mm of clearance to the side of it.
For those that don't remember what the fan cover looks like I found this picture https://cdn.quade.co/wp-content/uploads/2...

[MSI KT3 Ultra ARU] Advice on capacitor choice
            by cloppy007
I've found out that the all the Nichicon HM(M) caps on this board are faulty and need replacement. However, I didn't plan in advance and I don't have good replacement caps.

The original values are 2200uF, 6.3V, 5mm pitch. According to the datasheet, the rated impedance should be around 13-18 uOhms.

There are 8 of them, 3 to the left of the CPU socket and 5 on the bottom, very close to the northbridge. They are all connected, according to my multimeter.

I think I recall hearing that I don't have to use the same capacitance for in series...

Decent budget friendly Hot Tweezers ?
            by D_Pac
            Hi,

I'm after a pair of hot tweezers for motherboard rework, could anyone advise on a brand / model that's good balance between cost / usability ?

I currently have an unused Quick 236 soldering station, any chance there's compatible tweezers for it (I couldn't find anything).

            Thanks
