Re: Board layers confusion (Macbook Pro)
0.1 Ohm.
Actually just found another place with identical situation, via corroded, craping to the copper below and it's ground.
Is there something I'm doing wrong or could there be something shorted on that layer ?...

Board layers confusion (Macbook Pro)
Hi,
I have a Macbook Pro 13" 2019 A2159 on my desk with what seem to be SMC issues.
Powers on by itself, fan on max all the time, touchbar black. Everything else works as it should.
While examining it's clear repairs have been attempted before.
So I found this one spot - there's a via in the signal trace that should be connected to it but it's grounded. The boardview indicates that it should be connected to the signal and not ground (please see pics attached). None of the other points via is connected to show a short.
Have I reached another layer...

Surface Pro 7 M1866 no touch after firmware update
Hi,
Replaced a broken screen, everything went fine. The Surface connected to the internet, downloaded lots of updates, started updating (touch working fine at that point).
Display driver installed, all good, touch ok.
Then it went to installing Firmware and after completing the touch was gone. No touch in the UEFI area too, was fine before the upgrade.
Things I've tried so far:
reinstalling drivers,
reinstalling Windows, both with clean install and official image.
Is there a way to get the touch back without de-soldering the BIOS...

Decent budget friendly Hot Tweezers ?
Hi,
I'm after a pair of hot tweezers for motherboard rework, could anyone advise on a brand / model that's good balance between cost / usability ?
I currently have an unused Quick 236 soldering station, any chance there's compatible tweezers for it (I couldn't find anything).
Thanks

Re: HP 15s-fq1512sa Help identify the chip / boardview needed
That's great, thanks.
I've managed to source a donor board, will update with what's what in case anyone has the same problem.

Re: HP 15s-fq1512sa Help identify the chip / boardview needed
Thanks.
Probably not under warranty anymore - somebody messed with it before and there are parts/ screws missing.
What's my best bet of identifying the mosfet ?

HP 15s-fq1512sa Help identify the chip
Hi all,
I have a HP 15s-fq1512sa with a blown element next to M3966M. Markings not readable any more, but I suspect it's the same chip, just want to be 100% sure (pic attached).
Also, what are the chances of finding a boardview / schematics for this laptop?
Thanks!...
