What model is your programmer and software version. What is the chip part number that you backed up, the file doesn`t look right, it`s like the 1MB USB-C firmware saved as 32MB ? . If you have used the programmers Auto-detect setting choose the chip manually instead, and look for the chip in the support list

Ah, that`s where you`ve gone wrong. The 25Q80DV chip is 8 Mega bits - 8Mb = 1MB (Mega Byte) . The chip is 1MB and you chose a 256MB chip manually, so the programmer read it and padded it out. I hope you didn`t erase that chip. Leave it alone and look for the right one..

By choosing the chip manually you told the programmer that the 1MB bios chip is 32MB, when it isn`t. Find the 32MB chip ,choose Auto-detect.If it doesn`t recognise the chip by the part number that is on it then manually choose a different 32MB (256Mbit) chip in the list.

No, you`re getting mixed up. Find the chip in the red circle in the picture, tell us what part number is on it , and post some pictures of it.

That is the bios chip. It has no legs on it, the chip type is WSON8. You will not be able to read it if you only have a SOP8 clip, which is designed for chips with legs that stick out. If you can`t desolder the chip you could buy and use a WSON8 pogo adapter.

[REQUEST] Dell G3 3579 BIOS Password & AMI Protected Range/BIOS Guard Unlock
                                        by zenius
Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...

                                        by mikeybass
Hi, I hope some one has some advice for me. I searched the forums but didn't see anything relevant. I acquired two identical Dell 9010 Mid Tower computers from a business office upgrade (they were going to throw them out). Both of them have the same motherboard (00F82W). One of them works flawlessly. The other one had a corrupted BIOS. I tried flashing numerous main BIOS and EC files from the internet, but none of them worked. I decided to copy the main BIOS and EC from the working 9010 computer and successfully flashed the corrupted BIOS. This got the computer able to boot again and run norm...

Dell Vostro 3420 BIOS Password Removal
                                        by sammus540
I have a Vostro 3420 8H8K5R3-8FC8 that freeze at any attempt to enter bios password or the recovery master password received from dell. I do not have a clean BIOS image to flash.
And as luck would have it happened a couple of months ago right outside of the warranty period (Dec 2023) warranty expired in September. Any help or guidance is appreciated.

Hi there masters, recently i got a dell 5400 chromebook and wanted to install windows, i searched the internet and i found out other people also wanting a UEFI bios for this model, i searched there is a R/W legacy, but there are bugs like keyboard/trackpad not working, and hard to install.

so i decided to try to port one, this bios is based on dell 5400 windows version, i am testing this bios for a week now an found only a little to no bug at all in windows 10, or only a minor issue
in windows 11 sound driver compatibility, but overall its ok, for me i can deal with it, 😅😅😅...

3 amber 3 white blinks. Dell website sais it's problem "bios recovery" and suggested solution "recovery image not found"
                                        (from here https://www.dell.com/support/manuals...e7a&lang=en-us)

I try plugging charger while pressing ctrl+esc, machine turns on, nothing and after 20 seconds it gives 3 amber 3 white blinks again.

Since ssd is replaced and had clean install windows, i've...
