Hi, I hope it's ok if I reuse this thread instead of opening another one since I need the BIOS for the same machine. I need the BIOS file for my 9570 with Service Tag 158BQQ2, if possible I'd like to have version 1.23.0. Also, would I need to modify it to include the Windows activation key before flashing it, is it correct? Are there any additional info related to my specific machine that I would need to edit into the "blank" BIOS? E.g. anything about hardware combination (my machine has i5-8300h and gtx 1050).

Unfortunately I don't have a backup in hand right now, I hope you can still help me.

Unfortunately the repair guy who currently has my laptop isn't providing me a backup of the BIOS chip contents. Can I have a blank BIOS to at least check if the computer will return to life after a flash? Then I will try to recover the backup and edit the personalized info on the blank one. Thanks

I actually managed to retrieve the dump of the bios chip, I am attaching it. Can you spot if there are any problems / repair it / fix it? Service tag is 158BQQ2. Thanks in advance.

This bios file cannot be edited as it is for the Precision 5530.

Uhm, the repair guy told me he extracted it from my XPS 15, can i ask you how to show him proof that he gave me the wrong file? So i can tell him to stop messing around

Also, can i send your attached file to the guy and tell him to try and flash this one? I expect it doesn't have the windows license key and service tag though... Does it neet other modifications? Is it ME cleaned? Sorry I'm new to all this I'm just trying to understand everything and I just want my laptop back working...

Recording the service tag will help you understand when you flash the bios. Now your job is to flash it.

I went back to the repair guy and he said that the other file he sent me was wrong, and here is the correct one... He said this was ripped the first time he started working on my laptop. I find it strange that it's only a 8MB file, I expected a 32 MB file. I called him about this and he said that the chip is damaged and the programmer could only read this. I told him that the programmer should recognize the chip brand/model and based off that read 32 MB nevertheless, even if the BIOS is corrupted and it's all filled with junk bits or 0xFF, but reading another size… I don't know. Is he still messing around with me????

He told me that he has replacement chips to resolder, but before that he wants to program them with the correct BIOS file and he still couldn't find one. I also find this strange, on the same website that he got the other BIOS he sent (alisaler.com) there's a BIOS for the XPS 9570, albeit for a different board model/revision… Would that make a difference or would it be good?

In the meantime I'll try to have him flash the file you sent earlier.

Update: got the system running by flashing a clean me bin found online. now I just need to learn how to edit the dumps, as to restore the original serial and service tags
