I have indeed de-soldered the chip to program it.

I already thought of this as the cause of the problem (when I tried to repair the BIOS myself before posting), but I don't think this causes the issue.
I tried powering up the PC without the chip at all and nothing happens.
I'll verify with my multi-meter anyway, thank you

If so, there is a possibility that not all contacts on the chip are connected when soldering in.
This happened to me once with a Dell 5500 because only the power button wanted to light up the front LED amber.
After I checked the contacts and soldered them, it worked again.
Hi I'm writing a quick update, I tried soldering the chip again but it doesn't help.
I verified the contacts with my multimeter and I get the correct voltage on all the pins.
Is it possible that another chip needs programming ?

I was looking for some help. I have an Dell XPS 13 7390 2in1 that turns on, shows video but stays at the dell screen. I'm not 100% sure if this is a bios issue but was hoping someone had a working one I could try. Thanks.

does it issue with bios or something else, because I have programmed two other bios but still same thing.

Hello, my laptop starts up slowly and doesn't detect audio. The BIOS is not the original one for this machine, because the Service Tag on the laptop and in the BIOS are different. The laptop's Service Tag is 6STL5Y2, while the BIOS currently shows BKT70Z2.

Thank you. The BIOS is working and the laptop now starts up quickly, but there's still no sound from the speakers or the audio jack. In Device Manager, the Realtek driver is detected. It might be a hardware issue—I will check again.

                                Model: Dell XPS 13 7390 2-in-1
                                Dell XPS 13 7390 2-in-1 13" Intel Core i7 - motherboard : DDP31 LA-G172P rev1.0 (A00) 2019-05-27, vendor: GCE, made in China

                                Express Service Code: 29855503550
                                Motherboard serial number: DP/N OV2CCD CN-OV2CCD-CMK00-99J-0118-A00
                                BIOS download attached: winbond_25q256jveq-xps13_2-in-1_7390.zip

                                Problem/symptoms:
Laptop now shows Dell logo briefly when plugged into usb C power supply, or when power key is pressed with battery connected. New battery was installed. After a few seconds (<5), the laptop shuts down. It does not respond to any keys (like control-escape, F2, F12, etc). It does not show any message text about pressing keys to enter bios settings.

Using a multimeter, I followed the power on sequence, and saw all relevant rails *very* briefly have voltage before it shuts off. Using IR camera, no parts get particuarly warm (<~25 degC) when it is powered up.

I believe the bios may be corrupt. I downloaded 2 copies of the bios and they match (using HxD). I can see english error message text near the end, so it looks like a good download.

Please note that this Dell laptop has been a disaster for years. They swapped it a couple of times, including first the mainboard, and later the whole system. They also swapped the bottom panel. I haven't had a service tag sticker since the computer swap, but I pulled the service tag information from the Dell web site. I hope it matches the BIOS. I called Dell for help, and they said send the laptop in and they will repair it. I pointed out that I need the data. They said make sure to back the data up before sending the laptop in, because they won't promise to send my original hardware back if they can't get it working. I pointed out that I can't back up the data if the system won't boot. They suggested taking it to a local computer repair shop. I tried some local places, but they all said that they don't know how to help. I REALLY appreciate this forum, and the awesome people who provide this useful information & help!!!

At this point my main goal is to recover data from my old laptop, which seems impossible unless I can somehow get this system to power on. I have considered hiring an electronics repair service to transplant the eMMC BG4 chip from my Dell mainboard to the NVMe variant of the same chip. Has anyone tried this? I don't know if soldering temperatures might cause the data to be lost anyways. Unfortunately, I cannot find datasheets for the Toshiba SSD/eMMC.

Other notes (for other people who might be looking into this model!):
At first I didn't understand how to remove the black heat-shield that has the fans attached. After the screws (mostly on the underside of the board) are removed, it can be gently pried away from the mainboard. There is a metal rail soldered to the PCB, and the heat-shield is pressed onto it (no adhesive, solder, etc).

                                Model details:

                                https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...quest?t=106805

Actual bios chip: Winbond 25Q256JVEQ labeled as component UH8. AsProgrammer recognizes it as W25Q256FV.
Bios chip location: looking at the motherboard from the bottom of the system, with the fans along the top and the battery at bottom, the bios chip is located between the black shield and right side fan. It is close to the ribbon cable for the middleboard.
                                xps13 2-in-1 7390 mainboard bios chip location UH8 (w25q256jveq)

I was able to download the bios using a black CH341A programmer (with the modification to 3.3V), using a 6*8mm WSON8 pogo pin Probe tool I bought from amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CJQ8KQK2. Note that the CH341A driver requires the parallel port version of the CH341 driver (https://www.wch-ic.com/downloads/CH341PAR_ZIP.html).

                                Actual SSD chip:
Toshiba KBG40ZPZ512G (BG4 series eMMC, 512GB) / now Kioxia. This 512GB SSD is a BGA part directly attached to the motherboard, not an NVMe drive. I think the same chip is likely used in the NVMe variant (KBG40ZNS512G): https://www.amazon.com/Kioxia-KBG40Z.../dp/B0B9NTRGGF

Hello you can try this new file from version 1.35.0 but I wouldn't make too much hopes that the Dell XPS usually doesn't want to start with newly created BIOS files.
I don't know why this is.
Still, good luck maybe someone else knows how to repair it.

Thanks Markus, I can confirm, I tried with the latest bios image you shared. Unfortunately, as you predicted I'm still seeing the same behavior (powering back down after ~5 seconds, never showing any options to enter the bios). Now I'm really not sure what to try next...

[REQUEST] Dell G3 3579 BIOS Password & AMI Protected Range/BIOS Guard Unlock
                                        by zenius
Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...

Dell Latitude 5400 Chromebook UEFI bios
                                        by jhanra
Hi there masters, recently i got a dell 5400 chromebook and wanted to install windows, i searched the internet and i found out other people also wanting a UEFI bios for this model, i searched there is a R/W legacy, but there are bugs like keyboard/trackpad not working, and hard to install.

so i decided to try to port one, this bios is based on dell 5400 windows version, i am testing this bios for a week now an found only a little to no bug at all in windows 10, or only a minor issue
in windows 11 sound driver compatibility, but overall its ok, for me i can deal with it, 😅😅😅...

BIOS file for a Dell Latitude 3340
                                        by Clawed07
I've been trying to reset the bios password on this god-forsaken laptop, and due to it being a 8FC8, i've had little to no success with online password generators like https://bios-pw.org , not to mention how I don't want to burn a hole in my wallet by paying like 80 bucks on a weird sketchy website. Im using a local bios tool, except it requires a BIOS file, and I'm not entirely sure how to retrieve it.

Forgot to mention the motherboard is a Dell Inc. 004WC7, VER. A01

Dell Optiplex 7010 micro bad BIOS flash?
                                        by mrrubik
                                        Hi folks,

I got a Dell Optiplex 7010 micro PC (Exact Model) with 8FC8 BIOS and locked out admin password. I attempted to remove the password by patching the BIOS via info from this thread: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...ssword-patcher
After flashing the patched the BIOS, the PC is unresponsive with a solid AMBER power LED (not documented in manual anywhere)

                                        Steps I took:
                                        1. Read BIOS with CH341a, verified hash twice
                                        2. Patched
                                        ...
